Elise's POV

I sauntered into the coffee shop and found a booth in the back of the shop so when Luke gets here no one will see us.

I heard the bell ring, indicating that there's a new customer in the shop. I turned my head to the door and saw Luke come in with his laptop and a few files in his hand. What even?

I saw him looking around so I call his name. He walked over to our booth and sat across from me.

"Hey," he gave me a toothy smile.

"Hi," I replied back.

"So do you want anything or..." but then he gets cut off by the waitress asks us what we want.

I thought coffee shops didn't have waitresses.

"Um, coffee for two please," Luke answered for us both.

The waitress strutted away and then I spoke to Luke.

"So, what's up with the laptop and the files?"

"You wanted to know stuff about your boyfriend, right?"

"Yeah," I rolled my eyes.

"Well, all of these files are filled with his school records and the computer has his grades and parent e-mails," he explained.

"Ok?" It came out as more of a question than a statement.

"So, what do you want to look at first?"

That's a good question actually. I just really want to know about him. Maybe I'll start out with his family life? Yeah, family life sounds good.

"Family life."

"Ok well, his family life is pretty good. He's never came down to the guidance office willingly," Luke started off.

"Has he been to guidance before? And how do you know all of this?"

"I know all of this because he's been in trouble plenty of times. He's been in trouble so much that the teachers just send him to guidance now because those are the only people who can help him. If you ask me, he always gets away easily," he paused but before he spoke again, I asked him a question.

"What kind of trouble are you talking about?"

Before he could answer, the waitress came with our coffee. I took a sip and decided to wait to drink it because it's too hot.

"Getting in fights like twenty-four seven. I mean it's not really his fault. He can't help it but his parents have tried everything and they convinced Mrs.Tates that when he gets in trouble he can just go to the guidance but this time it was after school and the guidance office wasn't in, so he had to go to the principal's with you."

"Wait, why is him getting in fights not his fault?"

"Sometimes he just can't control himslef. It's normal with people like him. Sometimes, he can't concentrate and other times he concentrates too much. He can't help it."

"But why can't he help it?"

"Because of his Dyslexia and ADHD," he says in a tone as to say 'duh'.

So that's what Tates was talking about. Why wouldn't Demetri tell me. Damn, I so screwed up. This explains everything.

One thing that occured my mind was eariler during detention. Luke was smirking at me. Because he knew. He knew that Demetri had school problems and he practically called him out for it. I can't believe that he would do that.

I decided to just get up and leave without saying anything.

I heard Luke shouting my name and felt an arm pull my arm to stop me. I turn around and see that Luke's the one who pulled me back.

"Where are you going? You've only had one sip of coffee."

"This was a mistake, Luke. I'm sorry I wasted your time. Let's just forget that this happened," I walked away and out the door.

Elise's House

I stumbled through the door and was bombarded by my parents.

"Where have you been?" My mom asked.

"And why in the world did you get detention?" My dad bellowed.

"And get in a fight in detention?" My sister began.

I walked into the living room and sat on the couch next to my brother.

"What are you doing?" My dad asked.

"Sitting down, ready to take whatever punishment I get."

"James, Elena, can you both please go upstairs so we can talk to your sister please?"

They both went upstairs, laughing at me while doing so.

Once they were upstairs, my parents sat down in front of me.

"Elise, what's going on? You've been distant lately. We've all noticed. Please just tell us what's going on. We're your family, we need to know," my mother spoke.

"What are you talking about?"

"When you come home, you go straight to your room, we don't get to ask about your day anymore. And you're so quiet. Is something going on?"

"Yeah. It's called growing up," I don't know why I'm acting like this. I'm just not in the mood.

"Can I please just go to my room? I'm so tired," I plead.

"Not until you get a punishment," said my father.

Fuck.

"You will drive you and your brother to and from school and you will pick your sister up from school as well. No if, ands, or buts. And we mean it. And if there's a chore to be done, you do it. Also, considering that you jeapordized Ivy League, and that Mrs. Tates was very generous to not give you a punishment, we have put you for the dance committee. Whether you like it or not, you're doing it," my dad finished.

As of right then, I'm way too tired to put up a fight, so I go upstairs to my room and try to clear my mind.

Yet Demetrius was in my thoughts. And so was Luke.

They're both so confusing.

I don't understand why Demetri wouldn't just tell me that he has Dyslexia and ADHD. It just doesn't make sense. Can he not trust me? What am I even saying? Of course he can't trust me. I didn't tell him my secrets so why would he tell me his?

And Luke.

Ugh, he makes me so angry! He was so mean to try and humiliate Demetri. It doesn't even sound like him. What he was trying to do was rotten. But what I did, to try and get information about Demetri from Luke, was rotten too.

I just don't know what to do at times with either of these boys.

Boys are just so confusing and irritating.
