AN: Introducing the main character Mavis in this chapter. She's a really confusing character in my opinion but I think you'll come to enjoy her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~My eyes snapped open, I shot upwards in a sitting position. A flower field, why was I in a flower field? I tried to think of how I had gotten there, where should I even be that wasn't here? Nothing came to mind it was just foggy nothingness, it made me dizzy. Urgh, why was everything always so complicated! But then again, how was she supposed to know. So irritating... My vision was blurry as I tried to focus. Oh well, I'll deal with that later.
I stood up and looked around it was quiet, too quiet. The sun was high in the sky but going down slowly. Well no duh, that's how things work genius. Okay..... she needed to find something. There was a path leading to a road, better than nothing. I got to the road, down one way was just it extending on and on over hills and such. And the other, a house! At least that's what it looked like from here. That was good it was about 15-20 yards away, maybe, not bad.
As I walked towards it I thought about how I didn't see it before. At least I would have somewhere to stay. That's great and all but the people don't even know you yet. Well, my name is Mavis. Just Mavis, at least that's the only thing I know for sure. It seems to be the only thing I'm sure of at this point.
When the house came into more focus she noticed that there was no car parked in the driveway. Hm, maybe no one's home. But if that is the case she would just wait, but no way to be sure unless you knock. It was a tall wooden two-story house with trees dotted around it. I walked up the porch steps. What makes you so sure these people will help you? I proceeded and knocked. I started hearing shuffling and voices. At least someone was home.
"I got it, It's probably just pappa coming in late from work," A voice said.
The door opened and I stood there, stunned looking at a young, teen-like looking person. But then they were gone, just like that. Like invisible.
"But- you- I- um what's going on-" I stuttered.
"Samson, who is-" a new voice came. An older person stepped in the door frame they looked worriedly at me and behind me. "My dear, what are you doing all the way out here?" They said pushing an invisible entity out of the way.
"I d-don't know?" I answered shocked by her own unknowingness as seemingly the person. Oh, my gods.
"You don't know." They repeated. I shook my head. "Well dear, how old are you?" They asked as if I were a toddler.
"I'm twelve but I'm turning thirteen t-tomorrow? I think I need your help." I continued thinking aloud still confused on how I knew that. In their eyes, I could see the confusion ease up. Also noticing two other kids lingering behind the adult in the living room.
"Yes, well, let's get you inside. How long have you been outside?" They asked worried, guiding me in by the shoulders and sitting me on the couch. Why was I just randomly going in this person's house? Why do they trust me so easily? Was I freaking out? Probably! Wow.
"A couple minutes but that doesn't matter since I appeared in the flower field." Wait wait wait, what..... I answered saying it more to myself as confirmation, looking back towards the door and fighting her grasp slightly. They nodded as if understanding me completely.
"Oh, okay, well we would love to have you for dinner and I can have my daughter Gypsy fix you a bed in her room, right Gypsy?" They said to a girl with frizzy blond curls standing behind her staring at them.
"Wait, hold on-" I protested.
"Yeah." She answered plainly smiling and walked over to the stairs and went up them.
