AN: This chapter is a bit longer for you guys. It may seem a little unrealistic but if it helps, Mavis is really good at adapting in the beginning.

   The room went quiet and my pulse thumped loudly in my ears. Monday. Yeah, oh gee. Today was Friday. Tomorrow was my birthday, August 27, aka when I get my savvy. If you don't get my dilemma, let me explain. I've been told many stories so far to know that savvy birthdays don't always end too well. If my calculations were right it would be hard to get to the farm while my savvy is still free reign. I felt sick.

"Are you okay Mavis?" I heard Gypsy ask. No.

"Yeah, I'm fine, but how am I supposed to get to the farm without causing a problem with my savvy whatever that might be?" I asked, a little louder than intended. "Sorry," I added leaning back in my chair to try and relax, but still sitting stiffly. Oh my gods, talk about showing weakness!

"It's okay. We can cross that bridge when we come to it." They're mother said.

When dinner was over I looked around the house. Looked at family pictures learning more about them somehow. I had found out they have three older siblings that don't live with them anymore, two males and one female.

"That's our brother Fish, and that's Mibs. And our oldest brother Rocket." Tucker said pointing to some of the older kids in the pictures.

"Oh, cool." What was I supposed to say?

"Yeah." He said looking down awkwardly and walking away. Did I do something wrong? Maybe? If your gonna speak, at least make it helpful.

I was a little awkward walking around just looking at everything. Not really sitting anywhere or touching just looking and observing. It was summer so they didn't have school at the time, which was good I wouldn't know what to do if I had to go to school. I was getting awfully tired so I went up to where I figured was Gypsy's room. The sun was going down putting a golden glow over everything as it went through the windows.

I was bunking with Gypsy. I had a cot with some thick comforters, along with soft pillows. It looked really cozy. I took a brisk shower and got some spare clothes from Gypsy while mine went in the wash for her to wear tomorrow. My cot was just as comfy as I imagined it to be. Wow, Mavis, I can't believe out of this whole experience you like that the comfy cot the best so far. To be fair at the beginning I thought I wouldn't have a place to stay at all, so yes I like my comfy cot thank you very much. But I couldn't help but get as much comfort out of anything to hide the fact that I'm terrified of tomorrow and my savvy. Who knows what it could do or who it could hurt. Including the people who gladly took me in from a simple vision of the future. Like what if I accidentally-

"Hey, you don't mind if I play music do you?" Gypsy asked pushing that horrid train of thought of its tracks.

"No, not at all, I love music," I said smiling. Not sure why but she definitely did.

"Oh really, do you have a request?" She asked.

"Hm.... how about 'Moon River'. It's a nice lullaby tone song." I said, where did that come from. She had no idea what that song was, or at least she didn't think she did.

"I've never heard of that one before." She said typing it into her phone like device.

"It's good, trust me," I said shifting myself so I could hear it. It must be good if she remembers it without actually remembering it. She relaxed when she heard the piano start to play.

'Moon river wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're going, I'm going your way.

Two drifters off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waiting 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon river and me.'

I wasn't sure what Gypsy felt about the song since I fell asleep. That song was like a spell on me. I drifted off into a calm sleep of many, hopefully.
~~~
When I woke up it was still dark but there was no chance I could go back to sleep. I felt very energized and no tiredness showed. That was probably the best sleep I've ever had. What was it, I must find out for other times I can't sleep. Definitely the song I decided that would be my go to if I couldn't sleep. I found my clothes folded and clean at the end of my cot. After getting dressed and cleaning up in the bathroom I found out I was the first awake that was, odd. But then again so were a lot of things.
                        ~~~

I went outside on the porch to watch the sunrise. The brilliant golden-yellow light filled the air, and a whole new kind of warmth. It almost slipped my mind that my savvy was supposed to show up at any time.

I started to panic. What if I already had it and didn't know. A horrible thought crossed my mind. I hastily went back inside and run up the stairs I need to make sure everyone was okay and I didn't accidentally kill them somehow. I know a stupid way to think about it, but it made sense to me. In the hall I collided with someone coming out of the bathroom, we both fell hard on the ground.

"Ow, sorry- I wasn't looking where I was going- Didn't see you, are you okay." I stammered. I stood up to find I had run into Samson. I offered my hand to help him up, but, he just turned invisible. Then the door I assumed to be his room's closed. Oh, well...... that's just great you offended him and now he's mad at you. Your weak, it doesn't matter. But he didn't look mad. No, he's not mad just offended. Yeah definitely offended, great.  I went back to my room. At least no one was dead.

                    ~~~
More people woke up and we went down to the kitchen for breakfast, pancakes. Samson had a slight scowl on his face. It was my fault. I didn't eat much due to that. People noticed. Of course, they did, their guest was unhappy and not eating. Not good.
"What's the matter Mavis, aren't you hungry?" Gypsy asked. Samson looked up from his plate worried.
"I'm fine." No, you're not. "Just thinking about what my savvy could do." Liar.
"Don't worry." I scoffed.  "We've probably dealt with worse." The man said.
"Yeah, what could possibly be worse than a hurricane," Gypsy said sarcastically. My stomach flipped. I gaped at them. Impressive.
"Gypsy. There is nothing to be afraid of dear we're stronger than we look." The woman said reassuringly. It helped a little to know how brave these people were but, what about her was I strong enough. The woman looked at Gypsy. Gypsy shook her head. What was that about, whatever it was she knew it wasn't good.
