Heaven Sent - Ushijima Wakatoshi Love Story

Wakatoshi was sitting with his elbows propped on the table, fingers interlacing with each other, as he was in deep thought.

I have a kid.

He thought over and over again. Yukina agreed to grab lunch with him along with Kaito. Not like she could say no as the boy would give her the look that forces her into submission. They agreed to grab lunch the next day and he gave her the address to the place.

He hasn't told Aileen about his new discovery. But he promised to tell her something once she gets back from Korea the next week. She furrowed her brows worryingly but he gave her a kiss and told her not to worry about it, afraid that it would keep her from doing her best at work.

"Here is the table, Miss."
"Thank you."
"Hi daddy!"

Wakatoshi was soon broken away from his thoughts as Kaito took his seat on the inside of the booth and his mom slid in after.

"If I knew we would be somewhere fancy, I would've dressed us up a little bit more." Yukina furrowed her brows.
"It's fine." Wakatoshi opened the menu. "I like the privacy here."
Yukina chuckled. "You haven't changed, did you Wakatoshi?"

He looked up to see Yukina discussing the menu with Kaito. He stared at the two as many thoughts were flying in his head; but one question remained.

"Why haven't you told me?"

Yukina peeled her eyes away from Kaito and into the  pleading eyes of her ex lover. She soften her gaze and went back to Kaito.

"So we agreed with this?"
"Yes, mama."
"Okay." She smiled and closed the menu. She laid her arms on top of each other as she gaze at Wakatoshi.
"I didn't want to ruin your career." Her tone was solemn.
"But I could've helped you. I can't imagine what you had to go through."
"It's okay." Yukina smiled as she hugged her little boy, who was smiling brightly at her. "The girls helped me out, so I never had to struggle alone."
"Yes, but he is my son."
Yukina frowned, "If you're upset that I didn't tell you, then I'm sorry. I found out a few days before Valentine's Day. Apparently, birth control can fail. And we were only eighteen back then. I had no job to support myself and you just started in your career. I didn't want to burden you financially."
"You could've reached out afterwards." Wakatoshi's giant hand took a hold of hers while interlacing their fingers. He rubbed his thumb on the top of her hand, remembering how soft it was even back then. "I never changed my number in case you wanted to talk again.

Yukina sighed as she was starting to remember the rough texture of his skin.

"How could I? Every time I open the news, there's always a different woman with you." She looked over at Kaito. "Ever since he was born, I made sure he knew who his father was and I told him many times that if he ever saw you, that he should leave you alone. Not to call you daddy if you were with another woman either."
"Because you didn't want to cause any trouble?" Wakatoshi furrowed his brows.
"Exactly. We already had our chance, I don't want to ruin your chance with someone else."

And with that, she retracted her hand, her warmth lingering on his hand.

"The news are saying you're getting serious with Aileen." Yukina raised her brows in surprised. "First woman you're dating that lasted more than a month."
Wakatoshi simply nodded with the same stoic expression in his face.
"I'm happy for you."

A pain had struck his heart as he watched Yukina smile brightly.

"This way, we can both move on."
"But Kaito..."
"It's okay, daddy." Kaito's smile matches with his mother. "I've been with mama for this long."

Wakatoshi's eyes widened as his heart was aching. This isn't something he had planned.

The little family has finished their lunch and Wakatoshi walked them out.

"I bought a car seat for Kaito if you wanted a ride home."
"Hmm? How did Aileen react to that?"
"She doesn't know."
"Wakatoshi! You need to tell your girlfriend about these things! What if she can't trust you anymore?" Yukina playfully hit his arm.
"Do you?"
"Do I what?"
"Do you not trust me anymore?"

Quickly, her face fell to disappointment.

"Wakatoshi... I - you already have a Aileen.  Please, just focus on her." Yukina smiled sadly. Wakatoshi could feel her sadness as he it consumed his heart. He wanted her back. He just didn't know how to handle this because Aileen was the one who was able to make his heart whole again.
"Say goodbye, Kaito."
"Bye daddy!"

And with that, the two disappeared into the crowd.

"Wakatoshi! Were you waiting long?" The familiar redhead took a seat next to his best friend at their favorite bar.
"No, I just got here." Tendo nodded as he ordered his sake.
"So what is it that you wanted to talk about?"
"I have a kid." Wakatoshi released his breath as he closed his eyes. Tendo widened his eyes and slapped his back with a huge grin.
"That's really soon with Aileen, but if she's the one, she's the one right?" He laughed.
"No, he's with Yukina." Wakatoshi frowned.

Tendo froze.

"Wait, you're kidding me right?" Wakatoshi shook his head. "Since when?!"
"Shortly before we graduated."
"Does Aileen know?"
"I'm planning to tell her when she comes back. I didn't want it to affect her work."
"Do you think Aileen would still date you after knowing this?"
"I'm not too sure if I would want to continue with it."
"Eh? Why not? Because you have a son?" Tendo sighed as he took a sip of his sake. "That shouldn't stop you from finding your own happiness.
"Aileen indeed filled the void in my heart, but I have never forgotten about Yukina."
"That is true." Tendo sighed as he was scrolling through his phone. He nearly spat out his drink when he spot something.
"Are you okay?" Wakatoshi furrowed his brows.

Tendo quickly shoved his phone screen into Wakatoshi's face and saw Yukina's picture.

"She added me on social media!" He smiled happily. "Ah, now I get to talk to her again."
"How is that possible?" Wakatoshi furrowed his brows.
"There's a messenger in the social media app! So I can text her without knowing her number!" Tendo hummed as he was quickly doing that. "See!"

Wakatoshi looked at the screen since Tendo shoved it in his face and saw that he texted her a simple 'Hi.' Then his phone vibrated twice as he heard the text on Tendo's phone.

Hi Tendo.
How are you? :)

"Tendo."  Wakatoshi's face went serious making Tendo nervous. He didn't know what's going to happen.
"Y-Yes?"
"Show me how to use social media."
