Chapter 8 (POV Turtle)

Comon Turtle, you can do this. Get through your first day without falling asleep. Turtle forced his eyelids open and stared at his text book. He was about to fall asleep again when a tap on his shoulder woke him back up. He turned around and came face to face with kinkajou, the beautiful, bubbly, excitable girl. You could say that she was a bit, extra. She swished her long rainbow hair and pulled out her Unicorn Kitten rainbow phone. She hid it behind a textbook and quickly typed something. He felt his phone give a buzz. He pulled out his phone that looks like a shark. You have one new message. He clicked on it and read the message. It read:

Turtle are you coming to Peregrine's party? :3

He wrote back,

Yeah. Do you need to bring a gift? Because I forgot to get one. :/

He hit send. She instantly replied.

You don't have to but it would be nice to bring a little something. I have a box of chocolates that I could bring for you to give to her, if you don't have anything. ;P

He read it then wrote,

I think I might have a bag of candy that I could give to her but bring it just in case please. :)

K. Will do. Ooh, teacher's coming.

"Ok, class," Mr. Dune boomed, "Since this is the first day back, there will be no homework, but next lesson we will be starting a project on woodland animals, and there will be lots of homework for that. Now everyone start to pack up and you can all go in three minutes."

Turtle checked the time on his phone then put it in his bag, along with his science book, his notes, text book and pencil case. They wouldn't all fit in so he had to kind of shove it in so they would all fit. His mom had packed his bag today so it was all neat and tidy, but over the course of the day it had gotten messier and messier until his things wouldn't all go in. Eventually he stuffed them all in with only Umber and Kinkajou's help.

"Thanks guys," Turtle murmured as he hoisted the bag into his back.

"No prob, Bob!"

Amused by Kinkajou, Umber gave them a shy smile and walked over back to his desk to grab his things.

'Um, my name isn't Bob. It's Turtle".

"OMG I JUST GOT A FABULOUS IDEA!!! THAT CAN BE YOUR NEW NICKNAME!!!" Kinkajou shrieked. "It's SO CUTE!"

"Sure! If you think it's cute then it probably is, let's face it."

"Ok! Bob."

I think she's cute when she's all hyper. Wait, that sounds too weird. She's cute all the time.

Kinkajou suddenly leaped up and grabbed Turtles, oops sorry, 'Bobs' arm, then ran out of the class dragging Bob behind her.

"Uh, Kink, I don't think this is necessary. I mean if you want to do it that's also fine but seriously, this is running way to fast, I'm not going to be able to keep up".

"Don't worry Bob, I'm taking you somewhere amazing, oh, um I don't mean in that way..." she blushed and trailed off awkwardly but kept on running.

She led him up a long flight of stairs that seemed to carry on forever, but eventually Turtle saw a light at the end of the tunnel. They carried on towards the light until they burst right through it. Well, it was a door actually, but it's more dramatic this way. Anyways, they had ended up on the roof of the school.

"It's amazing up here isn't it! You can literally see everything and everyone! Also it's a great place to chat about stuff."

"What type of stuff?".

"Wellll, I was kind of hoping someone would take me to Peregrine's party, hint, hint".

She sat down on the gavel rooftop and placed her bag down. Turtle felt a slight blush spread across his cheeks. He sat down next to her and took out his phone. He fiddled nervously with the deep blue case and stared at his hands.

"Well Kinkajou, I would have asked you sooner, but you know how nervous and shy I am about these type of things", he took a deep breath and blurted out, "Will you be my date to the party?"

"Well I thought you would never ask!" Kinkajou's face exploded with happiness and excitement.

"You know you are adorable when you're happy".

"Oh so I'm not adorable when I'm sad or angry or scared?" Kinkajou pouted.

"No! I just mean you are especially adorable when your happy".

"Awwwwww, you are cute when your embarrassed!"

"I'm not embarrassed!" he mumbled, feeling a new blush cover his cheeks.

"Whatever".

She nestled her face into Turtles shoulder and closed her wide eyes.

"Wake me up for the party please".

"Don't worry, I will".

A/N Hey guys I did two chapters today but I can't post them both because SOMEONE(not naming any names coughPipercough)needs to hurry up and publish a chapter. Anyways I hope you enjoyed this chapter of Jade mountain high and I will see you in the next one!
