I woke up. I looked at the blurry screen of my alarm clock on my bedside table. It read 11:30 am. Oh no, LUNCH.
I jumped up, pulled on a pair of skinny jeans and a white tee. I somehow tamed my hair and was ready in 20 minutes. I was walking out the door when Stephanie called down from the hallway. "Where do you think your going? You're grounded remember?"
I winced. Oh yeah, I remember now.
"Get back in your room, NOW!"
I put on an act of being all defeated and slowly walked up to my room, slamming it behind me. As soon it was closed, I rushed to the window, climbed down the tree and got into my car and frantically drove away. I love that tree.
I met Elliot at The Coconut Café. He was outside, leaning against a wall, texting on his IPhone. In my pocket, my phone buzzed. I rolled my eyes. Oh Elliot. I decided to mess with him.
I walked straight in front of him while texting, 'I'm almost there. About 2 cm away.'
His phone chimed. As he read his eyes narrowed.
I laughed as he looked up, "I am here." He snorted then his eyes flicked to my hair. "Why have you got leaves in your hair?"
"This is INCREDIBLE! I can't believe I haven't been here before!" I said with a mouthful of food.
"Yeah, the barbecue chicken is my favourite." He also had a mouthful of food so it sounded more like, "Bleh, ba bebeque chocon sis me foverabe."
He spat food everywhere. As I wiped chicken of my face, I said, "Yeah, it's great. My forehead loves it."
He snorted, "Whatever." He frowned at his food, "Why did you have leaves all in your hair?"
I sighed, "Remember, I am grounded?" He looked confused, "What has that got to do with having a couple of leaves in your hair?"
I rolled my eyes. It is sometimes hard to tell that he has been my friend for the whole of high-school.
"I was ready to go and everything and stepmonster calls out," I imitated a monster. "so I escaped down the tree." His eyes lit up with realization. "Oh right, are you sure she won't notice your gone?"
I laughed. "Probably, but never mind."
He shrugged, "Okay."
We finished off our meals and paid. We walked out the door, side by side.
"What would have been better, Lacey or me?" I ask curiously. He grinned down at me. The top of my head came to about his nose.
"You're so jealous. If you really have to know, I would way rather you."
I glared at him, "I am not jealous! I was just wondering." I tipped my head up and strolled away.
He caught up to me. "Hey, is that all you heard! I said I would rather go to lunch with you!"
I sighed, "Thanks but I don't believe you." He snorted. "Whatever then!"
I tried to keep a serious face as I turned to him. "Thanks for lunch."
The sun was shining at the exact right angle on his face and for the first time ever, I noticed he was actually really good looking. His eyes were a beautiful blue that radiated light on even the gloomiest days. His nose was exactly the right size. His chin was sharply chiselled to perfection... "Earth to Jamie, why are you staring at me like that?"
I shook my head as if shaking the dreams away.
He stared at me weirdly. "Um, I better go." He pointed towards his car.
Still stuck in dreamland, I replied quietly, "Bye." He walked backwards slowly, trying to work out me out. As if satisfied, he nodded, got in his car and drove away.
A/N - Picture of Adrian included. I likey.
