They stopped shouting at once. Their shocked stares bore into me like a worm digging through the earth.

"I can't take it anymore! Neither can Adrian. Stop arguing! PLEASE!"

My dad began guiltily, "Jamie, I..."

My stepmother glared at me and cut him off. "GET OUT JAMIE, GO TO YOUR ROOM AND DON'T COME OUT!"

I shot a hopeless look at my father, he had his eyes closed and was muttering to himself.

Stephanie pointed at the door, "OUT!"

I turned on my heel, stomped into my room and slammed the door. Tears were burning their way down my cheeks. I threw myself on my double bed and cried myself to sleep.

I woke up at about 3.00 pm and didn't dare to go outside my bedroom. I grabbed my phone and texted Elliot. 'Just had a massive fight with parents. Can I come over?'

My eyes were all puffy from crying. My phone chimed. 'Yeah sure, come over at about 3.30 pm.'

I smiled happily at my phone. I chucked it on my bed and slipped into denim shorts and a khaki tee. I grabbed my keys and phone, chucked them in a backpack along with my English homework.

Sliding my window open as quietly as I could, I stepped out on to the tree. I started climbing down but I slipped. I landed on my back, winded. My homework stabbed me in the back. I tried to suck air into my lungs but failed. I laid there for another couple of minutes, catching my breath.

Slowly, I got up and staggered in the direction of my car. My body had recovered by the time I got to my car down the street. There wasn't enough room for my car in our driveway so I parked it down the road. It was already 3.28 pm.

As I started my car, I sighed. I drove away in the direction of the shopping centre.

As soon as I got there, I bought two bags of lollies and jumped back in the car and drove to Elliot's. I pulled into his drive and switched off my car. Even after this long, I still wasn't used to the size of his house. Both his parents are surgeons. They have a lot of money.

I reached to the back seat and snagged the lollies. I ran up his stairs two at a time and knocked on his door. The door slowly opened.

I laughed, "Hi Lisa."

She giggled and ran into my outstretched arms. I always have wanted a little sibling. She hugged me. Her hair smelt like strawberries. She pulled away and ran up the hall. A minute later, Lisa came back down, dragging Elliot behind her. He was wearing a singlet and jeans. I could see his well defined torso and I think I almost drooled.

"Hey Jamie." He grinned his lopsided grin that I loved. He pointed up the hall in the direction of his bedroom. I nodded. I walked past the kitchen, where Elliot's Mum banged away with pots and pans. Lisa was still hanging off Elliot's arm. He angrily shook her off. All she did was giggle and latch on to his leg. She was six and so adorable. Her hair was in two soft, blond pigtails and she wore a little, cute dress.

Elliot sighed. "Mum can you help me out here." Instantly, Lisa stood up straight, apologized and walked silently up the hall. I personally didn't know why they are so frightened of their mum.

"Come on Jamie," Elliot spoke, gesturing with his head. The instant we were in the door he closed it and fastened the lock. "What happened?" He pulled out a chair from under his massive desk. I sat down and put my feet up. His room was enormous. A colossal bed was in the corner, covered with a black duvet. His desk ran along a whole wall and had all the latest technology on it. In a shelf on the far side of the room, which was about 2 kilometres away, rested loads of books. They ranged from Harry Potter to The Hunger Games. I realized Elliot was gazing at me, waiting. I threw the lollies at him.

He grinned. "Yes! Dinner and a show."

I shrugged, showing a bright smile.

After telling him about what happened, we settled down and did my homework. "You're a champion! Thanks so much Elliot!"

He smirked, "No problem, you bought me lollies! I now serve you eternally."

I snickered. We paused suddenly and just gazed at each other. My stomach contracted. I realized he might kiss me.
