Monday finally came and I decided that I needed to go back to school. Charlie was already in one of my uniforms, looming over me.
I jumped and almost punched her from fright. She doubled over laughing. I stared at her with an amused expression on my face.
Between laughs she gasped, "You...should...have seen...your f-face." Her face was a bright shade of red. A smile crept onto my face as I got up and walked toward my cupboard. I still needed to get the door fixed. I rolled my eyes as she began to settle down. Finding a uniform, I headed to the bathroom.
Once I was finished, I walked down the hall and past Dad. I pretended not to notice and kept walking. I barely talk to him or even see him anymore. I shook my head and sped through the rest of my morning routine. Charlie was happily bouncing through the house. I think she was a little excited to go back to her old school.
CHARLIE'S POV
I was so excited. I missed that school. The school back in Italy was lame. Everyone was all snobby and stuff. I grinned as I brushed my teeth. I don't think anything could get me down from this high. Jamie came in behind me. She was so pretty. I got jealous sometimes but I mean, what's the point?
I like me, me is good. Not many girls have the self-esteem I do and I am proud of it. I washed my toothbrush off and grabbed out my make-up. I love make-up. I swear that I couldn't survive without it. Jamie and I stood side by side and at that moment, I knew that anything could be thrown at us and we would remain at each other's sides. She seemed to be thinking the same thing because she grabbed my hand and gave it a squeeze. I smiled fondly at her and continued my make-up.
JAMIE'S POV
I knew something wasn't right as soon as we walked into the gate. A lot had changed. I could feel it. Just then the crowd in front of us parted as a girl walked through. She had black hair and piercing brown eyes. She was almost identical to Lacey but her walk was even more confident, she wore her uniform even shorter and her facial expression almost looked like she didn't even know what she was doing in this dump. Her eyes scanned the crowd and landed on me.
She blew a massive bubble of gum and slowly walked toward me. Her perfectly shaped eyebrow raised, "I haven't seen you around. You're pretty. I don't like that. Who are you?"
Charlie stepped out from behind me and got up in her face. "Her name is Jamie and you have no right to be speaking to her like that."
I frowned and nudged Charlie out of the way. "Anyway, I should be asking that question. Who the hell are you and why is the school worshipping you?"
She laughed. Her laugh was so fake that it made me want to throw up. "
"Melissa Chariot and it's because I am amazing."
She blew a kiss to a guy that was standing near her and I think he almost fainted. I felt Charlie bristle with anger beside me and I silently prayed she wouldn't say anything.
Melissa clicked her tongue, "Well, it has been a pleasure talking to you." She coughed and under her breath said, "Not."
I felt my veins fill with anger. "Oh and you should really get some anger management sessions for your friend." So much for hoping Charlie wouldn't do anything. I heard Charlie gasp. Time slowed down as her hand connected to Melissa's face with a loud 'crack'.
The noise echoed through the silent hall as the onlookers gasped. I think most of the school was witnessing this. Melissa's eyes flashed with anger as she brought her hand back to slap her back. Before she could do anything, Lacey jumped in-between them and grabbed her hand before it did any damage. I gaped at the sight before me. What is happening?
