Chapter 19:Secrets are harder to keep...

The next morning Hermione leaped onto the Hogwarts express as the smoke huffed . She was just in time! She took her suitcase and started her search for Harry and Ron.

She walked down the hallway past many compartments. Where she found Harry, Ron and Ginny sitting in a compartment. As she opened the class door they jumped up in surprise.

''I thought you were only returning home for a few days! Not two weeks!'', said Ron angry.

''Things popped up and took some time to recover from them, ''she said helping Harry with her suitcase.

''You could have told us, Hermione, we would understand. '', said Harry.

''Guys, I can't just throw every letter I write at Merlin. He quite busy carrying. . . '', she stopped before spilling her secrets, but the group was already hooked.

''Carrying what?'', asked Ginny big eyed.

''Someone I met's letter. '', she said keeping it simple.

Now every one was hooked and it was like they all suddenly sat an inch forward, eyes big and gawking at her.She shouldn't have said a thing.

''Who?'', asked Ginny with eagerness in her voice.

''I'm not telling you!'', she said with a smile but she saw Harry's face fall into rejection.She felt a pang of sadness but it wasn't possible

''Tell us, Hermione, Please!''

''No is No, Harry, so stop asking me.'', she insisted before seeing Ron's open mouth. Didn't he ever listened to his mother about starring, '' Ron you are catching flies. '', she said firmly leaning into her seat to read her book.

They all reluctantly retreated and instead Ron threw in a different question. Probably just to spite her.

''So, what was so important?'', he asked with his head tilted to one side,slightly.

''By Merlin's wand! Ron! You are so nosy!Can't you just mind your own business.'', she said loudly. Wanting to groan out loud but rather not. Keeping this secret was much harder than she intended.

''It's just a question, Hermione, calm down. Just answer it. '', Harry said concerned. Looking up from his parchment piece.

She took a deep breath and lied. Something she didn't do very often, ''My parents are having a hard time, financially. Their dentist business took a knock this summer after someone broke in. Most of the equipment was stolen and has to be replaced.''

''Oh, sorry. '', said Ron sounding offended. Did she offend him?

''No sweat, I'm just a bit stressed.Coming home in the summer finding them struggling financially is not the surprise any one wants.Luckily Hogwarts education is free.'', she said putting her hand on her head and that was the truth.

''We understand. Just be honest next time.'', said Ron but Hermione knew they knew nothing they understood nothing. After a while of silence she excused  herself to go  to use the restroom.

As she walked out of the small tight compartment she bumped into Draco his eyes lit up with delight as he pulled her into a hug.

''Hey, how are you?'', he asked calmly. Kissing her on the lips. Her first kiss that she answered with passion and love. She felt like the world stopped around her. Or did time freeze?His had travelled to the back of their head but she quickly pulled away.

''Does that satisfy your lust?'', she asked. He smiled fondly at her.

''Yes, just enough. '',he softly replied into her ear.

''Uhm, can we keep things out of the public eye until? . . '',she wondered but he immediately understood.

''Sure. '', he interjected not looking sad at all.She still felt bad.

''Thanks. I must get back to Harry and Ron. Before they start to wonder where I am.'', she said trying to slip away but he pulled her near to whisper something in her ear. She giggled and walked away blowing him a kiss.

''Why did you take so long?'', asked Ginny.

''Long row. Had to wait. '', she wasn't into talking right now. She wanted to meet her father and tell him what happened. She was ecstatic about her first kiss but had to hide it because of her friends.

She looked outside as the landscape became a blur into the afternoon of reading and small discussions with Harry and Ron. 

After the feast Hermione went to Gryffindor tower. She left rather later than the rest and took her time to walk to the tower.She walked slowly admiring the castle for its beauty and thought of her new found family.She wondered what her father was up to now. As she swung the portrait shut , for hopefully the last time, she sank into the armchair. The clock against the wall showed her that she had about an hour before she needed to meet Draco.So there was still time to spend time with Harry and Ron.She had missed them over the summer.After they would move up to bed she will slip out and go to Draco

''Exhausted? ''asked Ron. She purely nodded.

''Why did you take so long?'', asked Harry looking up from his parchment.

''Because I did. '', she answered simply.

''Oh. '', said Harry returning to his parchment.

''Writing to Sirius?''

''Yep, he sent a letter last night. He says there has been news of a lost daughter, that was in the sub-blood category of the Tribloods, found by her father. She lived with some muggles.'', Harry implied.
