Chapter Six ~ Family

It was two days later. Clark was coming over today to see Eliza, a few other people were too. Lena, Maggie, Alex, Jonn, Winn, James, Sam, and Ruby to be exact. MonEl was speed cleaning the loft while Kara nursed her baby on the sofa.

"I can't wait to see the look on Ruby's face when I tell her she can hold Eliza. Sam told me that she loves babies." MonEl didn't say anything, but Kara knew he was listening. "And I need to get the turkey wraps started, little miss." Kara looked down at Eliza. Her daughter looked up at her, and blinked. Smiling, Kara shut her shirt and lifted up baby Eliza, kissed her on the cheek, and wrapped her up in a blanket which was laying next to them on the sofa. She gave Eliza a pacifier, and set her down in the baby swing. She then went over to the kitchen to start making turkey sandwich wraps that she, MonEl and their friends were having for lunch.

Thirty two wraps later, Kara peeked across the loft at Eliza, who fell asleep in the swing. MonEl was admiring Eliza, gently rocking her to keep her from waking. It warmed Kara's heart seeing her boyfriend so happy with their baby. Kara turned around to finish up what she was doing in the kitchen. She poured some potato chips in a bowl, got a stack of paper plates, paper cups, and Pepsi, then set all everything on the dining table. She walked over and sat next to MonEl, who looked at her, a wide grin across his face.

"She's just too precious." MonEl stroked Eliza's cheek, and the baby stayed asleep.

"You two are too precious." Kara leaned in and kissed MonEl gently on the lips, but they were interrupted by a knock on the door. Sighing and rolling her eyes playfully, she stood up to go answer the door.

She let her friends come in, and when Clark came she hugged him tight. She hadn't seen her cousin since before she was pregnant with Eliza, so she was glad he was here. She led her guests over to the dining table, and they all sat down, and began to add some turkey wraps and potato chips to their plates.

"When can I hold Eliza?" Ruby said, taking a bite of her wrap. It had spinach, turkey, cheese, and mayonnaise on it. The bread for the wrap was made with tomatoes, making it extra healthy and extra good. Ruby's mom eyed her, letting her know to be patient. Kara smiled at the child.

"After we're done eating. She usually stays asleep when we pick her up, so you'll all probably get a chance to hold her." Ruby's face lit up. She looked across the room, searching for the baby. "She's over by the sofa." Kara pointed to where Eliza was sleeping in the swing.

"Do you know her eye color yet? Or way to early to tell?" Maggie asked as she dipped a chip into some dip Kara had gotten out at the last moment.

"We can already tell they're hazel, especially in the light. They're so beautiful." MonEl nodded to Kara's response.

"And her hair looks really dark like mine. She seems to like me more, too," he teased. "She stops crying when I take her from Kara." Kara smiled and playfully punched his arm. Everyone else was smiling too.

"I've never seen you two so happy before!" Lena chimed in. Then, once everyone was finished with their wraps, they went over to the living room. Everyone found a place to sit, and Kara picked up Eliza. Eliza burped, and it was adorable.

"Who wants to hold her first?" Kara asked, gazing around the room. Before anyone else could answer, Ruby's hand shot up in the air.

"Me, me me!" She said excitedly, standing up. Sam pulled her down by her other arm. and Ruby quieted down, and Kara giggled.

"Alright, here you go. Be careful, don't forget to support her head when holding her."

"Alright. Thank you." She handed Eliza over to Ruby, who held the baby close to her chest, as if she never wanted to let go. She probably didn't. Everyone watched as Ruby carefully passed Eliza to Sam, who held the baby in awe before passing her to Lena, and so on. Eventually everyone got a turn. Eliza didn't wake up throughout any of it, until handed to MonEl.

"Hi, baby!" MonEl said, but Eliza started crying.

"Ha!" Kara said as he put a pacifier in Eliza's mouth. "She always stops crying for me." Kara teased MonEl back.

Soon, most of Kara's friends and family left. Only Clark remained, who volunteered to help MonEl clean up from lunch while Kara nursed the baby. Everyone else had their jobs to attend to. Alex, Maggie, Jonn and Winn had work at the DEO. James and Lena needed to attend a meeting at CatCo, while Sam and Ruby went last minute Halloween costume shopping. Kara and MonEl needed to shop for costumes too. Halloween was tomorrow, and it was of course baby Eliza's first Halloween, they needed it to be special.
