"I still can't believe I let that happen." Kara kept shaming herself. She looked across the room at Eliza, sleeping on Kara and MonEl's bed. "This city isn't, and never will be a safe place." She sighed, and looked up at MonEl. "I mean, what if Ellie was gone forever?" MonEl shook his head.
"She's still here, babe. It's okay." MonEl kissed Kara's forehead. "And don't put all of this on you. It's not your fault that jerk man stole our baby, and he's in jail now so it won't happen again."
"But what if it does?" Kara closed her eyes and tried not to think about it.
"I have an idea." Said MonEl. "How about we take a vacation? Away from the stress of this busy city, maybe to Jekyll Island or Holden beach. We can rent a house on the beach, and take a walk along the shore as the sun sets." Kara smiled. "I'm sure everything will be fine here. Alex and Jonn can handle it." Kara sat up. She was leaning against MonEl's shoulder before.
"Yeah... maybe we should take a vacation." Kara put a strand of hair behind her ears. "When would we go?"
"In the next three days probably." MonEl replied. "We'd have to find a house to rent and we have to pack and buy plane tickets and find a beach."
In the next day they were able to find a house to rent, they bought plane tickets, and they were beginning to pack. MonEl changed Eliza's diaper while Kara finished packing her suitcase. As she packed, the news was quietly on the tv as background noise. Suddenly, a particular news clip caught Kara's attention.
"Citizens of National City say that Supergirl has a baby. Here's a clip from someone's phone to prove it." The news showed a shaky video off of an old iPhone recording Kara knocking the kidnapper out, then taking Eliza and telling her that she'll never let her out of her sight again. After the video was over, she shot a worried look at MonEl. He had seen it too.
"Nobody knows what Eliza looks like, though." He said. Kara nodded. "But they might want to interview you." Kara sighed.
"Well, I'll be on vacation." She smiled, then shut her suitcase. "When does the plane leave?"
"In thirty minutes." MonEl picked up Eliza after he was done changing her, and gave her a kiss. They were able to get a plane ticket for today and find a house that was ready for them. They decided to go to Jekyll Island.
Thirty minutes later and they were on the plane. It was Eliza's first time, and since she wouldn't remember it, Kara took tons of photos on her phone.
Once they landed, they got a taxi to take them to a car rental place where they could rent a car. They chose a black jeep, just like they had back in National City. They drove to their rental house as the sun started to set.
"Want to unpack later?" MonEl said once they carried all their bags to their bedroom. "Let's take a walk on the shore. I really want to."
Kara agreed, MonEl had never been to a beach before. So, Kara strapped Eliza in a baby carrier on her back, and they left out the backdoor to the beach. They had a backyard with grass, but all they had to do was walk down a path to get to the beach.
The sunset was beautiful, pink yellow and purple making a perfect picture for Kara's new photo album called "First Family Vacation."
Halfway through the walk, MonEl stopped Kara. Waves splashed against their legs, and Eliza screamed at some seagulls, causing them to fly away.
"Why'd you stop?" Kara asked MonEl. He smiled, and pulled something out of his pocket, then got down on one knee. Kara gasped. Is he proposing to me? Dear Rao I can't-
"Kara Zor-El," He said. "Will you make me the happiest man in the ga-" Kara stopped him with a tight hug.
"Yes! Yes, yes!" She pulled away from him, crying tears of joy. "I love you, MonEl. You and Ellie are the loves of my life."
