Justin dropped me off at Adam's the next morning before he went to work. After one too many, yet not enough to be satisfied, kisses goodbye I finally made my way up the drive. I was smiling like an idiot, but quickly shook it off. It was too early to be so happy. I was turning into one of those love sick people I hated. Oops.
I put my key in the door, and tried to be as quiet as possible as I slipped inside. I hadn't planned on staying the night so I was in the clothes I wore last night, but I was grateful I decided to take a shower with Justin this morning, which was the reason he was running a bit late. I was too busy smirking to myself about the thought that I didn't see him until it was too late.
I connected with a solid back, I stumbled backwards as Vince caught me and steadied me against himself.
"You always were clumsy any time before nine." He smirked at me.
I yawned and stuck my tongue out at him.
"So mature. And would it kill you to leave a note next time?"
"Leave me alone, I'm a big girl." I grumpily said.
He fake pouted at me. "Such a big girl huh?"
Before I could speak he picked me up bridle style, I was going to protest but I didn't have the energy. I just nuzzled closer to his chest, enjoying the familiar smell of his after shave. Glad that no matter where I went he always was a little piece of home with me.
I heard him chuckle lightly as he started walking somewhere. It was still dark outside, but the sun would be coming out soon enough. Too soon if you asked me. I felt Vince stop and sit on a couch. In what room? I didn't bother to check; but as soon as I heard the tv click on, I knew we were in the living room. I doubted we were in the game room, Vince wasn't a fan of video games so I doubted he even knew it existed.
I stayed in his lap, curled against him, enjoying the familiar feeling. I hadn't been able to spend any time with him lately and I didn't know how much I missed him until now.
"I don't remember you owning old spice body wash."
"Huh?"
"You smell like a man, hence you used, I'm guessing, old spice body wash. Which means you were with someone. Most likely male, over night. I'm happy for you."
"And how do you know it wasn't just a one night stand?" I muttered, not sure how he'd react.
"It's the same body wash I've been smelling on you for over a month. I'm not mad, you know that. I'm quite the opposite, I was starting to worry you would never be okay after-"
"I'm fine."
He sighed, as he always did when I cut him off the topic.
"I'm sorry," I looked up at him, "talking about it makes it harder."
"I know. Don't be sorry."
We were quiet a bit before he spoke again.
"I remember when you were younger and you were just content laying like this forever." He softly told me.
"I still am, just might get a foot cramp. The art of curling up in your lap is harder as you get older." I mumbled, already have asleep.
He chuckled. "Go to sleep, cranky."
I would have argued if he hadn't started running his hand through my hair. I was a total sucker for having my hair played with.
"Please?"
"No."
"Please!'
"NO!"
"Why?"
"Because."
"That's not a fair answer and you know it."
"I don't want to go."
"Why?"
"Why do yo want me to go?"
"Because if I have to go alone with Blake and Miranda I am going to die of boredom mixed with third wheel." Adam groaned. "I'd go for you!"
I lightly slammed my head down on the bar counter repeatedly. Adam and I were in the kitchen and he was currently trying to beg me into going with him, his friend Blake, and Blake's wife Miranda, to some lake trip the three had planned for today. He made up excuses here and there that I didn't quite believe.
Soon I felt something in between the counter and my forehead. I opened my eyes to see Adam's hand. I glared at it then him. His deep green eyes were partially glaring at me, his dark brows furrowed ever so slightly.
"Quite that. Now c'mon, please? I'll owe you." He gave me puppy dog eyes.
"Fine. One condition." I grumbled, already regretting my decision.
"Hell yeah! Anything?" He looked like a kid on christmas.
"Make me a grilled cheese with tomato."
"I'll make you all of the tomato grilled cheeses your little heart desires! Now go get ready, they'll be here soon." He shooed me upstairs.
I groaned, already annoyed a that man pushing my buttons.
