It was only yesterday when he and the others discovered that Jay could not touch water.
Kai didn't know that it was going to hurt Jay, com'on, it seemed funny at the time!
It turns out, that each of the dragons were keeping secrets from each other, of course, they don't know that.
For instance, Kai never told anyone about why he has skeleton wings.
He said he was born like it.
But that wasn't the truth at all.
This is what really happened.
Flashback:
Young Kai was flying about, flapping his majestic wings. His little sister was playing with her three friends: Skylor, Pixal and Harumi.
Kai wasn't one to complain, but he was just given the mission of finding lunch while his father and mother went to see an old friend.
Why they trusted Kai with the job, he shall never know.
Another thing is that it's hunting season for dark dragons.
Dark dragons aren't exactly friendly though. They hunt young dragons down and either eat, or kill them.
So, to sum it all up, he was scared.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a giant vengestone net came flying towards him. It trapped him in it.
When you watch movies, if a hero falls from the sky, and hits the ground, you just see them stand up and brush it off.
Yeah, that isn't true.
Falling from a height hurts.
Just ask Kai.
Still entangled in the net, Kai turned his head, to see Nya, and her friends in the same situation.
Enraged, Kai started thrashing about, trying to get the net off him.
"Well, well, well. He's a little fighter, ain't he?" There stood a huge, dark purple dragon, with purple eyes and ever-so-large claws.
"Yeah! You bet I am! And you might wanna' let us go before I get angry." Kai said as-a-matter-of-factly.
The dragon laughed again, followed by several others from his friends.
"I like him." He said, picking up the net.
"Hey boss, maybe we can make him join us!" One of the friends said.
"Wow, Darreth, that is the smartest thing that has slipped through you jaws." He complimented.
"Let, the girls go. But lets keep the boy." He said.
Nya and her friends were released. They got into a fighting stance.
"Ah, ah, ah." The dragon said, shaking his claw, and then placing it on Kai's forehead above his eye. "We wouldn't want hot-head here to lose an eye do we?"
When they didn't reply, nor back down, the dragon dug his claw in to Kai's forehead and trailed down to his eye.
Not being able to take her brother's screams anymore, Nya shouted, "STOP!" And so the dragon did.
"Do you back down?" He asked.
"They do, but we don't." Said a bold voice from behind the dragon.
"Ray." The dragon said.
"Yes, that is my name, Overlord."
Kai let out a sigh of relief upon seeing his father, and heard his mother beating up the dragon's who had the girls.
Overlord growled and tossed Kai to Darreth.
"Take the boy to the volcano and throw him in!" He said.
Kai not liking the sound of that idea, bit Darreth's paw and flew out of his grasp.
Overlord's brain clicked.
"The boy's strength is his wings." He muttered.
Revealing his own wings, Overlord flew after Kai and grabbed the young dragon's tail.
Overlord grinned. "Oh, Ray! I gotcha boy!" Taunted Overlord.
He wanted Ray to see his son suffer.
Overlord flew off, Kai still in paw (A/N see what I did there? 😉 no? Okay. 😭)
Overlord flew into an active volcano and held Kai so his wings were facing the lava.
"You will never fly again." He evily laughed, and put Kai's wings in the lava.
Ray flew after them soon after Overlard shouted of him. But hearing his son screaming, angered- no, ENRAGED him.
Upon seeing his son's wings in the lava, Ray tackled the Overlord, but caught the barely conscious Kai in his paws.
"Until we meet again Overlord." Ray said, and flew off.
When Harumi, Skylor and Pixal were sent home, Ray announced the bad news.
"Kai will never be able to fly again."
Flashback end.
"And here we have Kai! Master of staring into space." Kai jumped, but his shock died down when he saw Jay grinning.
"Jay? When did you get here?" Kai asked.
The young dragon had been sitting at the edge of the cave.
"3 hours ago. Why?" He asked.
"Just wonderin'." Kai the turned away to get lost in his thoughts again.
