"They just keep coming!"
Lloyd dodged a blast as he yelled to his friends. What he had stated wasn't a lie. The Dark Dragons just kept on coming. Either The Overlord had a massive army or they could regenerate. Lloyd decided on the first.
Kai huffed. "Yeah, no kidding!" He burned a dragon until it's skeleton started to show. He stabbed his claw in it's chest and jumped into his next victim.
He was a Form Dragon and he stood smugly. Just as Kai was about to sink his jaws into his neck, he shifted forms; he took the form of a dragon Kai never expected to see again. The Fire Dragon's eyes widened.
"Oh, Kai. You wouldn't hurt your own father, would you?" The Form Dragon smirked.
Kai retracted his claws. Mistake. Big mistake.
The larger dragon pinned the teen down and opened his massive jaws. Kai knew that this was the end. He wouldn't survive. Maybe he would see his real parents. Not these fake ones. And Kai almost killed himself, because, one of his last thoughts included, Why do dragons always try to bite my face off?
"STAY AWAY FROM MY BROTHER, YOU MOUTH-BREATHER!!!" A blast of water sent the Form Dragon crashing into a tree and knocking him unconcious.
Kai smiled at Nya as he sat up, "Thanks, sis!"
Nya mock saluted and scratched along the chest of a Ghost Dragon, before soaking it.
"Nya!" Jay called from were he was being cornered by five dragons. "Let's make some water that's sutiable for electric eels!"
The Water Dragon nodded and sent a wave of water towards them.
Jay shot lightning at it and covered himself with an electric shield.
He laughed as the Dark Dragons convulsed from the electric wave.
Wu swiped his tail under a Stone Dragon's, making him trip. Wu destroyed the statue-like creature and sent out a wave of power destroying the ones that had begun to circle him.
"ENOUGH!" A voice pierced through the sky, and everyone looked to a large black figure, carrying a smaller greenish one.
The Overlord (the real Overlord) landed and dropped Cole on the floor.
The former Earth dragon sobbed even after being thrown to the floor, he payed no attention to the world, only thinking about what had happened and what he should have done.
His friends ran over to see if he was alright. He was showered with questions of, "Are you okay?" and "What happened?" and the most painful one was, "Where's Zane?"
"Go on, Cole, tell them." The Overlord sneered. "Where's Zane, Cole."
Cole's claws sanked into the ground.
"Where is he, Cole? Where is he?!" The Overlord shouted menacingly.
"HE'S DEAD, OKAY?!" Cole yelled. He sunk back down to the ground. The rest of his friends gasped.
Lloyd felt weird. He had never felt like this before. Except when, he lost his...brother. It was the same feeling. It wasn't anger or sadness or grief or remorse. It was empty. He was empty. Cold, dark and empty. It was the most inconvenient time but he remembered something. About Zane.
Flashback
Lloyd jogged through the jungle. He was about 12. Two years after his father started to set rules, and he wanted to run. He wanted to get away from everyone. His friends, his family, even his friends he considered family. Like Jay, Kai, Nya, Cole and--
He ran into something.
"Lloyd? What are you doing? It's the middle of the night." Right, and Zane. The guy could be weird at times but he was really friendly and kind. Someone Lloyd could trust to keep all his secrets.
"What are you doing out here?" Lloyd shot back. Zane raised an eyebrow (?) and tilted his head.
"Did I not ask you first?" He said innocently.
"Yeah, you did." Lloydsighed.
"Why are you outside?" Zane repeated.
Lloyd had to bite his tounge to not say something hurtful to Zane. Honestly, to see the guy upset is like a claw to the heart.
"I... I was running away." Lloyd was defeated. He knew that if he put off the truth for any longer he would burst eventually.
"
Zane walked over to the pond and sat down. He patted the spot next to him and said, "Sit down."Lloyd did so and turned to Zane. The Ice Dragon started speaking.
"Running. It's a common thing to do. All living creatures do it. It's their natural instinct to danger. Dragons are like that too. Our paws become sweaty, our hearts begin to race, we shake and then, we run. What are you afraid of?" Zane asked. He stopped looking at the water and directed his attention to Lloyd instead.
"Well?"
"My dad set some super strict rules a while ago. It's really affecting me and my life, so I ran away."
Lloyd paused and Zane took his turn to speak.
"Don't you think your father would be worried if you ran away? A parent would search forever for their missing child until they find them. Think about your family, Lloyd. How would they feel?"
Lloyd sobbed and tearfully spoke. "That's not the only reason."
"What else?"
"A few days ago... my older brother died. He was a Wind Dragon and he always looked out for me. And now that he's gone it just makes me so.... so.... angry."
Zane sat in silence before saying.
"Lloyd. Take a deep breath, think about all your anger... and scream. Let it all out." Zane said simply.
Lloyd nodded and took a deep breath in, and he screamed.
The rest of the night Zane spent comforting him.
Flashback End
The empitness was filled with something new. Not rage, or sadness.
Energy.
Pure energy.
Golden energy.
And he let it all out.
