Saving people and hunting things have been the Winchester family business for has long has they could remember. The monsters that we write stories about and the creatures that we tell our children don't exist, they are only in stories, are out there. They hurt people, they kill people, and hunters are the only one's who fight back.

John and Mary Winchester fell in love, got married, and had two beautiful boys, Sam and Dean Winchester. They agreed that they wanted their boys to have a long and normal life, so they raised them without the knowledge of what crawls in the night. John and Mary wanted their boys to grow old and have families of their own, and that's what life was looking like, until one night changed everyone's lives forever.

On the night that Sam turned six months old, a demon came into Sam's room. Mary felt something was wrong and after tucking in four year old Dean, she went into Sam's room to come face to face with Azazel, the demon. John heard Mary scream and when he ran up the stairs, he entered Sam's room to see Mary pinned against the ceiling and suddenly catch on fire. John screamed and tried to help Mary, but there was nothing he could do has the flames spread. Dean went to the door and cried out for his father, and John knew that he had to get his boy's out of there. John grabbed Sam and gave him to Dean, telling him to get out of the house has fast has he could.

After that night, the entire family was dragged back into the hunting life. Sam and Dean grew up on the road, never staying somewhere for very long, and held that lifestyle long after they lost their father to the hunting life. The boys only had each other, but they still knew that they wanted more and they wanted what their parents always wanted for them. They wanted the family name to live on and for the life that John and Mary dreamed for them to not go in vain.

Even though they thought it would be okay to balance a family and the hunting life, they should've learned more from their parents that no matter what, the hunting life will find them.

And it definitely wasn't easy for them to start over.
