"How could they be here?" Johnathan thought, his mind switching over every possibility of why and then suddenly, he jolted awake. He rolled over in the bed to check his phone. 2:30 AM. He knew he wouldn't fall back asleep.
"You alright babe...?" Sebastian mumbled sleepily,
"Yeah, I'm fine." Johnathan replied, sighing. Sebastian sat up and stretched a little.
"I'm not gonna be able to get back to sleep...wanna go for a ride? I've got my own car."
"Y'know, that actually sounds kinda fun." Johnathan laughed. The two got up and got dressed, careful to not wake anyone else. Sebastian grabbed his keys and they went to his car. It was a good car for what it was.
Sebastian said that he only used it to drive really far places, usually he takes the bus or his bike. Soon enough, they were driving, Johnathan sticking his arm out the window to feel the cool breeze of the air flick his fingers, and push back his hand. Serene and calm, like a nice wave moving in and out of the shore. The soft music in the background fading in and out. He looked over to Sebastian, he was so calm and relaxed. No worries, nothing to hide. Johnathan wished he could be like that.
Sebastian, a warm sandy beach, calm and warm, hugging your feet to the ground, making you feel secure, and Johnathan, he was the ocean. Crowded, confusing, beautiful yet dangerous. Calm in one second but dangerous in the next. He was unpredictable.
"Hey Johnny, I'm gonna take you to this nice spot. No one else knows where it is," he looked over at Johnathan and put a finger to his lips, "our little secret?"
Johnathan laughed, and kept staring outside.
Eventually, they reached the spot. No city lights, the sound of animals out and about, and stars. How beautiful the stars were. The sand and the ocean became one that night, exchanging kisses beneath the stars. The ocean thrashing against the sand with power, love, and excitement, the sand, retaliating made the ocean warm, revealing beautifully made shells thrown into the ocean once more. The two mixed together, they were one in the same, and were closer now. It was exhausting, to merge together, but it gave them both pleasure in that.
They were both too excited to care about how long they merged, or how badly the toll on them could be, and when they finally finished the two sat on the hood of Sebastian's car and stared at the sunrise.
"I wish I could drive away, away from all of my problems and worries, then I'd be happy. I'd be with you Seb." Johnathan spoke. "You don't make me feel like the ocean I've always felt like. Alone and cold, you make me warm and I wanna stay warm for the rest of my life." Sebastian slumped against Johnathan's body, "Me too." He whispered.
They slept in Sebastian's car, since Johnathan didn't know the way back. They skipped school, what did it matter? They were finally together and that's what mattered.

That's when Johnathan got news of the crash.
