Ashleen's POV:

"What the hell do I have to do to teach you insolent children, I will not accept absences?" Is what I hear boom through my speakers as my foot practically presses the pedal to the floor of my car. I'm almost at the exit ramp of the highway so I'm about two or three minutes out from the house.

The voice that has sent a ringing through my ears belongs to none other than Marcelliano Gianni Caprice, my grandfather, and the head of our coven. He is a ruthless man with the amount of death he has given out in his time on this earth being so immense, the scared looks I get throughout our community are like that of what a bully would experience compared to the looks given to my grandfather.

"Would anyone like to enlighten me as to where my granddaughter is? Ashleen Loren Caprice, Your potential only hope in the threat we now face?!" He snarls, and it's as if he is in the seat beside me. I am for sure screwed, I should have paid more attention of the time while on the date with Alex. instead of having all my attention on her.

I've now thankfully pulled up the the obnoxiously huge house where my grandfather is surely about to kill everyone in the room with him if I don't show up soon. I disconnect the call and cut the engine, rushing out the car and using my speed to get to the parlor room where meetings are usually held.

As I come up to the closed doors that lead to the parlor room, I tried to compose myself, straightening out my clothes and hair and taking a steadying breath. I could hear my grandfather as if I had never disconnected the call and he was in my ear. When I heard something thrown into the door  and shattered I moved into action, opening both doors and letting my face remain neutral to the destruction in front of me.

"The princess has decided to grace us with her presence it seems. Well come now, there are important matters to discuss." Comes the sarcastic bellowing of my grandfather as his icy grey eyes bore into mine, a hand outstretched to beckon me to him. I look down at the shattered wooden chair he must have thrown. At least it isn't a body. I think to myself as I look back up to my grandfather.

"Clean up this mess." I say lowly to one of the vampires just off to my left, a small squeak leaves his throat before he scurries out the room and is back a moment later with a broom to sweep away the evidence of my grandfather's out burst.

I step to him, kissing each cheek and then stepping behind him and to his right. I see Lorenzo off to the side standing behind a chair with his mother seated in it, looking the picture of perfection. My cousin Lucia, along with her parents are stood behind me, Lucia staring out the window she's leaned against. Her eyes meet mine briefly and we nod to each other before my attention is brought back to the man in front of me.

"Now that everyone is here, I would like to share some disturbing news that has come to my attention as of recently..."

AN: cliffhanger I know.. So what do you think is the big news?? What do you think of her grandfather?  will Ashleen be punished for being late?

In the meeting room are only about 20-25 people, Ashleen's immediate family and the top slayer's of their coven. Ashleen is referred as a princess obviously because her grandfather is in a way a king, being the leader of their coven. Ashleen dislikes the title and all the extravagance that comes with her family, that is why she has her own place away from the house.
