Ashleen's POV:
To say I was surprised I think would be an understatement. After what I had just heard from my grandfather, it was as if my mind decided to go on vacation. All I could seem to do was stare at the back of my grandfather's head as he rumbled on. This cannot be happening.
Apparently, vampires had been going missing for the last two months and then popping up dead weeks after they had initially gone missing. The surprising thing, however, was that they were drained of their blood and then just tossed aside as if they were trash. It was just disgraceful.
Whoever was held responsible in the deaths would be executed, vampire or human, it wouldn't matter. That was the way the vampire society worked, it wasn't like the judicial system of the past, if you did wrong, wrong was done onto you. Blood for blood, an eye for an eye. So whoever was found responsible in the deaths of the so far known seven deaths, they would suffer seven deaths.
I snapped out of my daze when I noticed that the entirety of the room had been draped in silence. My eyes roamed over the faces of the people gathered, top slayers and my family all with their eyes trained on me.
"What?"
I crossed my arms over my chest as I looked around, they all bore masks of indifference to the situation yet shifted with unease under my gaze.
"You, my dear granddaughter, are burdened with the difficult task of bringing this murderer forth to pay for their crimes." My grandfather said as he leaned his body to the side, not even a look of remorse crossing his face at the prospect of potentially sending his granddaughter out to her death.
"It is not a burden nor difficult grandfather-" I corrected. "-It is but a small challenge, and I am honored you chose me for the task." I dropped my arms from my chest and stepped toward my grandfather daring to look him in the eye. It was disrespect at its finest yet I couldn't really find it in me to care.
"If that concludes the meeting then I better be going. I do have to find a serial killer after all." I practically growled as I kissed my grandfathers' cheeks and went to leave. I was pissed that he put me to bring whoever was responsible down alone. I would be able to handle it, I was the best of the best right after him of course. Maybe they're testing me.
AN: I know its a short chapter. I've been busy with training for this job I just got so I've been sidetracked. sidenote, I'm about to rant. Plus I'm kinda pissed right now because my parents and sister had a fight and as usual it'll be about one thing and turn into a WHOLE other thing. initially, it was that my sister needed to clean one of her cat's cat litter boxes then it was about me, then bills, then laundry and chores, then me again. And other bonchinchera and crap like that. So now apparently the dog and two cats have to be gone by tomorrow or they'll get thrown out on the street. (so like my dad will stuff them in a crate drive out somewhere and release them like they're wild animals because he is an asshole.) Plus there already is a cat outside. so yeah I think that's about it.
you guys should expect a chapter sometime next week maybe. no promises.
