*Johanna's POV*
Once Peeta went to his room to check on Katniss, I was planning to get myself to the clinic. Even though I'm extremely weak at the moment, I knew that if I didn't get there within the next 24 hours I would die from the blood poisoning. Most likely.
I rolled myself off the couch, leaving a little bit of blood, and took the blue plaid blanket that Peeta had wrapped me up in with me out the door. I walked, more like stumbled down the uneven path that was covered in leaves, pine needles, and tree roots alike. I was nearing the left edge of the path when I heard someone scream ahead of me, though not too far. I tried to run back to the cabin to warn Katniss and Peeta, but got tackled from the side. I was picked up off the ground rather harshly, and the man spoke up.
"It's her. We've got her. What do ya wanna do with her, boss?" he said with a deep and raspy voice.
"Put her with the others. We can't let anyone know that we were here. Mess up the leaves and make them look like you didn't just take a swan dive at the ground," a woman said. A woman. With a high pitched voice still, which probably meant that she was still prepubescent. How many young people have I pissed off that would have buff lackeys wanting to take me out? I could only think of one.
"Snow. You're... you're Snow's granddaughter," I say while still in shock from the attack and obviously not well enough to stand up.
"Well, it seems that she gained some smarts! What, after your family died, you decided to focus on your studies?"
"Hell, no. I just paid attention to those who were responsible for them dying. Your grandfather was the only wicked one. Seems I was wrong. What made you want to follow in his footsteps?"
"You don't get it, do you? You killed my only family. You and all the other rebels and victors. I'm going to avenge my grandfather's death by watching each of you tortured in your own way, each of you suffering from any form of torture that comes to my mind. You've already gotten the first round, even. The ax that is so common in your district. It seems, symbolic in a way. Because I'm going to turn your district against you. And this was the first time that they were going to stab you in the back. Enjoy your life while you can, because it's not going to last much longer." She paused, staring at me more menacingly than I thought was possible from anyone her age. "Get her in the car."
I was then gagged, picked up, and thrown into the trunk of the car. I tried to scream to anyone that would hear me, but I decided that at this point it was useless.
"What about George? He has the other one," I overheard the brute man say.
"Forget about him and the girl. Even though we could use her to break that nuisance in the back," an obvious reference to me, "it's not worth it. I have other ways to break her. My grandfather tortured her too, you know. He broke her more than I thought was possible. He used to let me watch. But only would he let me watch Johanna being tortured. I never saw Peeta. But she was tortured with water. They would allow her a bath or a shower, and then send electricity into the water. They used to shock her so much that even when she wasn't being electrocuted, her hair would stand on end. It was wonderful."
'Wonderful?!' That crazy bitch could've stopped him by being all sweet and innocent, or at the very least, she could've chosen to opt out of Snow's horrendous festivities. But instead, she stayed and didn't do anything. I feel as though cruelty to human nature is a gene that is passed on in her family. But if that were so, where were her parents? Had they gone off to another place where they could kill more people, or had Snow had them killed since they were a threat to his power? and if that were the case, why is his granddaughter still alive? I doubt that he had even a morsel of kindness buried somewhere in that ravenous shell that he was, but was I wrong? There was only one way to know, and that involved confronting the new embodiment of evil herself.
A/N: Sorry for not updating in a couple of days! but I'd really like to thank you all for getting me over 200 reads! If I could bake you all a cake or something, I would! Anyways, I'm having a bit of trouble trying to decide what should happen to Johanna. I've done a bit of research (to keep this all a bit more realistic and whatnot), and I can't decide what to do with Johanna. I don't really want to kill her off, because that would be evil, and I want to be a little bit nice, but some of the diseases that you can contract from blood poisoning are pretty bad. And the death rate is 1 in 3 or higher. So... I don't really know.
There are a few diseases and things that I'm debating giving Johanna, so tell me what you think:
Meningitis-central nervous system infection
Osteomyelitis-bone infection
Endocarditis-heart infection
Organ Failure-liver, heart, kidney, etc.
Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Septic ShockThe last two I really know nothing about, but I can do some research if you guys want. Let me know what you think!
