My South Park Headcanons and Opinions

My child self's opinion on South Park

Note: This is NOT my opinion now XD This is what I thought of the show when I was a kid. :P

I never watched this show as a kid. Lots of other people have watched it when they were kids or even toddlers :O I was an innocent child who hated swearing and inappropriate stuff. I never cursed and I actually used to hate South Park XD (edit 2020: WHOA! strong statement there!! :000) well maybe I didn't hate it but I was never interested in watching it. Somehow I must've seen clips and bits of it around but my knowledge on the show was EXTREMELY limited.

This is what I knew/thought about South Park when I was a kid:

- There was a character named "Eric Cartman". Somehow I knew his first name. I could tell he was a jerk because my grandparents' fridge magnet of him looked angry XD (edit 2020: apparently that's an automatic indicator??? 0_o??wut?) I somehow figured that Cartman was the "iconic" character of the show.

- There was a character named Kenny (whose last name I didn't know back then) who died all the time, but then came back again. I think I knew about the "Oh my God, they killed Kenny!" "You bastards!" catchphrase but I'm not sure if I knew the second part or not. I knew absolutely nothing about his personality.

- At some point I found out there was a character named Butters but I didn't know his personality. I think I used to think he was a few years younger than the others though for some reason.

- I couldn't remember Stan or Kyle's name back then.

- All I knew about the show was 4 obnoxious little boys in winterwear with obnoxious voices swearing a lot and insulting each other. I thought they were all jerks with no redeemable qualities (idk why I thought this.) I didn't know that the show was satire, I didn't know anything about the other characters or who they were, their parents, siblings, Chef, any teachers or other kids or anyone else. I didn't know the episodes actually had a plot. I probably just thought it was the 4 boys swearing and being jerks for 20-30 minutes XD

- Oh yeah and I think I knew that they had bus stop scenes but maybe not.

- I also didn't expect them to actually sing well sometimes.

- I knew it definitely wasn't for kids XD

- And I NEVER would've guessed the fanbase had fangirls or yaoi shippers XD (though I think that's awesome ^^)

I can't remember exactly how it happened, but sometime last year I was on TV Tropes one night and I somehow ended up on the South Park page. For some reason I was curious to look at the character pages so I did. From what I read, it sounded VERY inappropriate XD but still, I somehow took interest. Then I was wondering for awhile if I should try watching the show. I was 18, so I was old enough, but I still hesitated for a bit (because I had never watched an MA rated show before, even though the earlier episodes were only rated M, but I don't think I knew that yet) before deciding "screw it" and watching the first 4 (I think?) episodes of Season 1 (cause of course I have to watch things in order XD). I think from what I remember that was a bit much for me at the time so I stopped for awhile but then I came back to it a little later and watched more of it. Ever since then I was practically addicted XD

Kenny became my fav character (I know it's a popular choice but he's awesome :D) mainly because I felt bad for him dying all the time and I thought his laugh was so cute ^^ I love in the earlier episodes when somebody would say a sexual innuendo and Kenny would laugh like crazy XDDD

For awhile, Kyle was my second favourite (lol I'm so cliche XD) but him and Butters keep rivalling for my 2nd fav. Anyway I'm rambling now, this was supposed to be about my child self's opinion, not my current opinion XD

I'd like to hear your opinions on the show when you first discovered it and how your opinion has changed over the years/months :) Thanks for reading (if anyone actually reads this ;^;)
