"Yes, can I sign these two out please?" I sat with my little sister Tay, at the table near the desk. I saw her from the corner of my eyes as I did every week, she spoke in a very soft voice. She wore different over sized sweatshirts all the time with tights that hugged her legs from her ankles all the way up. Although some of the sweatshirts covered her ass, I could still tell there was a lot going on underneath. She came in to sign out books or print papers, she was always quiet and pleasant to look at. I heard her say her name once, Jaaliyah, I was sure of it. We locked eyes once and she seemed to become interested in me but looked away quickly, I wanted to say something but, as fast as she moved my words would never catch her.

"Excuse me miss, would like to renew these books?" The librarian asked her.

"No, I'm returning them and signing out these two." Jaaliyah said. She noticed I was looking her way and instead of looking back at me she looked down at her fingernails, which she was picking at for a while.

"I'll be right back Tay, I'm going to the front desk for a second." Tay was working on her math homework as she did every week. She shook her head at me but continued to work.

I walked up with confidence hoping I would get a "Hi" out of her or at least a smile. I waited until the librarian was finished to ask her a question that I didn't have ready. She looked at me from the corner of her eyes and the slightest smirk crawled on her face but quickly came off when she caught me staring. I usually don't stare at people too much but for some particular reason she was my reason to stare.

"Thank you." Jaaliyah said. Before she left she turned to look at me as if to get one last glance. I watched as she went out of the door and down the street, my eyes followed her until there was no more of her left to watch.

"Young man, how can I help you?" The librarian almost seemed to be yelling at me as if she'd been trying to talk to me for a long time.

"Oh, Uh no thank you I forgot." I walked away and went back to the table with Tay.

Jaaliyah was on my mind for the rest of the night, I thought about what she was like and what she liked to do on her spare time. I went to sleep excited to go back to the library next week or maybe perhaps even the next day and wait just to see her again. It never fazed me that I would ever have an interest in her and I couldn't wait to find out if she had an interest in me. The only thing on my mind in that very moment was how I was going to make Jaaliyah become mine and only mine. I was determined to get her and I couldn't wait to do so. I wanted Jaaliyah.
