"Here, here, here. Just up here." Logan repeated in the car.
"Alright." Charles said a bit annoyed as he pulled the car to a stop.
Layla jerked back in her seat at the sudden stop. "Thank God!" She thought relieved. Charles wanted to drive the rest of the way, and she was on edge when he drove. He came to sudden stops, jerked the car around tight corners, and came close to hitting several cars. Layla sat in the back seat by herself with her nails dug tightly into her seat, while she sent up a silent prayer that they would get there in one piece. Logan tried to kick Charles out of the driver's seat, but Charles wanted to drive while he could.
"Next time I'm driving. Don't get use to it." Logan said in an irritated tone as he got out of the car, already storming up the driveway. Hank followed close behind, and only Charles waited for Layla. Instead, of rushing out like the rest of them, Layla sat there keeping her hand hovered above the handle. This was it. This was the next step, and then it was the Pentagon. The panicked voice in her head shouted loudly, ordering her to leave; to turn back. The other part of her was ready, and determined to go. That part of her wanted to take the risk, and have some fun with this mission. She was battling with herself, and she thought of staying in the car, but how pathetic would that be?
Charles knocked on the window with his knuckle looking down at her with his sunglasses. "Are you alright?" He asked concerned.
Layla nodded her head unable to speak. Taking in a shaky breath, Layla stepped out of the car, and shut the door behind her.
"I'm good. Don't worry." She tried to smile.
Layla walked around Charles to catch up with the others. Charles slowly followed sensing something was wrong. As Layla made her way to the others, she spotted an older woman standing at the door not even bothered by the four strangers at her door.
"What's he done? I'll just write you a check for whatever he took." She told Logan straightforward. Layla took note of the woman's reaction, knowing that this clearly wasn't the first time someone has come to her about a problem that involved this guy they were here to see.
"What has he done?" Layla wondered.
"We just need to talk to him." Logan said calmly.
The woman nodded and let them in, as she called for a Peter warning him the "cops" were here. Layla assumed this Peter was the guy they were going to see. The woman walked into her living room, and sat down on her couch watching The Price is Right while finishing a drink. Clearly, she was use to this happening, otherwise, she wouldn't act this careless. A little girl in a tiara told Wolverine she was a princess, and asked him who he was. Dramatically taking off his glasses he told the little girl he was the Wolverine. Layla snorted, covering her mouth as she laughed. All three men looked in her direction.
"I'm sorry." She laughed holding her hand up. "The...Wolverine?" She asked amused. Logan rolled his eyes, and continued on. Logan, who acted like he had been here, went to the basement where this Peter must be. Layla managed to calm down, bringing herself back down to reality, while she listened to the little girl complain about her sister as she passed through the entryway. Logan went downstairs first when they got to the basement, followed by Hank, Charles, and Layla lingered in the back unsure of who was down here. That and she was still pondering whether or not she wanted to run for it, and forgo this whole "breaking into the Pentagon" mission. She hadn't even been told who they were trying to break out. Sure, it wasn't her businesses, but come on. They were asking her to help break into the Pentagon. Then again because she didn't know these men too well, why bother asking? Besides if she did ask, that would just take the surprise in it away. Hell, she hadn't even asked how they tracked her down. Now that she thought about, she really was doing a cruddy job of being more firm, and getting her answers. Guess she was still living on the thrill of the adventure, while also wanting to get out of it too. Not only that, but she felt she could trust these men in front of her. They hadn't tried anything, and so far they were telling the truth.
