Chapter 14 : Encounter

Sting's Pov

"Where the fuck is Blondie?"

It has been a day without any traces of her in the guild. I grumbled in annoyance, my mood turning sour in every second that continue to pass.

"Did not she said something about retiring from her previous job, yes?"

I looked at Lector who was turning on Frosch for confirmation. "Fro thinks so too!"

"Her previous job? Did she have one?"

Yukino placed down her cup of tea and nodded. "Yes. It seems that she has been Jason-sama's assistant for a while after Fairy Tail disbanded"

I knitted my eyebrows.

"Who the fuck is Jason?"

Rogue rolled his eyes.

"Dumbass. The noisy photographer from weekly sorcerer who came here back then"

Ah so it was the mustard haired guy who suddenly yells how cool everything was.

Uninteresting.

"I smell the light bulb and the shadow freak lizards it stinks"

A tick mark popped in my forehead at the insult suddenly given to us. That just made my mood bad than it already was. Great.

"Oh please shut up Gajeel, we have other things to do"

Before us appeared Gajeel-san, the iron dragon slayer along with a short haired girl beside her. They were wearing the councils' official uniform--wait, what?

"You two are working for the council?!"

The blue haired girl turned towards me, holding a black furred exceed in her arms. "Ah, Sting Eucliffe Sabertooth's guild master. The council have requested you to submit your guild's written report for this month"

P-paper works?

They went here just for that?

Yukino stood up. "Uhm..it seems like it was still unfinished at the moment.." then she glanced at me, back on the two former fairies. "I'm sorry for the inconvinience.."

The blue haired girl gave a grin. "It's okay. You can submit it tomorrow but you will go on the council yourselves. We won't pick it up"

Yukino beamed. "Thank you very much, Levy-sama!"

"Is that all?" I asked, watching as Frosch and Lector approached the other exceed.

"Actually--"

"Ah, Fairy-san is back!"

I can feel joy boosting up in my system as Blondie entered the guild doors, making her way towards us. Her hair was bouncing at every move, her bright and bubbly aura attracting me more.

"Welcome back, Lucy-sama!"

The two ex fairies and now council's staff turned in their backs at the mention of the name.

Blondie's eyes widened, dropping her things in the ground and went to hug the girl.

How I wish she hugged me like that instead.

But then the thought got erased as tears left Lucy-san's eyes, her knees weakened as they both fell in the ground.

"I'm so sorry, Lu-chan"

Blondie seemed unable to speak as she only tightened her hug like she never wanted to let go.

And I envied it.

Rogue's Pov

"I still can't believe you're in sabertooth now.."

"Well..it was a long story.."

After Lucy-san calmed down at her breakdown-- which raised my anxiety bar into a whole new level-- I ended up into the bar after locking Sting together with Yukino in his office to finish the paperworks to be submitted in the council.

"Long time no see, Ryos"

I rolled my eyes at the voice.

"What do you want, Gajeel-san"

He sat on the bar stool beside me and made himself comfortable.

"Have you marked anyone yet?"

My ears turn red. Now he wants to talk about that? I have been trying to shift my mind away from the season and abnormality of carnal desires of my dragon slaying magic but then here he goes suddenly opening it up as a topic.

"I take that as a no then" he snickered.
"You fucking virgin"

A tickmark popped in my forehead. "Please mind your own business"

From the smell of it, it seems like he have mated with Levy-san. It was unexpected for me--it's not like I'm against it but Levy-san seemed too fragile for someone like Gajeel-san.

"You fancy anyone right now?"

I wanted to use shadow drive and leave the room immediately but then, that would be rude considering he was a guest.

"Rumors said you have done it with Minerva"

Wait, what?

"What the fuck?" I grimanced. Sure, nobody can deny that my lady, Minerva-san is beautiful but she's not my type.

"Seems not" he laughed, obviously enjoying my reaction. Damn my life.

"How about Lucy?" he stared at the two talking. "You know with that thick ass and boobs, nobody can resist her"

"What a foul mouth" I can't believe he can spat things like that so easily. Did I really just idolized this maniac?

It is true that Lucy-san may have the ideal body type any male would want but there is more than that in her. She cry over little things. She's cheerful and has a kind heart. She treasures her friends the most.

Maybe that's why I was attracted to her in the first place.

"Just say that you like her"

Snapping out of my thoughts, I gave a smug look at Gajeel-san which he laughed at. But after that sounded like a threat.

"But make sure that you won't hurt her. Just like how your future self does" I shivered, knowing that anytime my shadow could over power me without myself knowing.

He then, snickered. "Don't look so glum now. I also hurt her before"

He did?

"But my resolve was to protect her" he stood up. "If I were you I might confess up soon considering you have a lot of rivals"

W-what?

"Salamander, Ice prick and seems like even the light bulb fancies her"

"W-wait a minute Gajeel-san!"

"Take care Ryos!"

Then he left the guild with Levy-san and the black exceed.

"Ryos?"

I almost shrieked when Lucy-san appeared beside me. She laughed at my reaction.

"What a cute name"

I felt relieved at her presence. This is where the moment I swear that I will protect her, no matter what. Setting aside the dark shadows lurking within myself dedicating myself to hers only.

"I missed you, Lucy-san"

She smiled warmly.

"I'm home"
