❝my soul mate❞Cassandra had a strict timetable of training in the morning, getting bone marrow taking from her in the afternoon, eating and then going to sleep.
The pain didn't get any easier for her and that meant training was difficult but Simon had tried to help her out and go slower and easier on her when they were fighting since she couldn't move as fast.
As she sits down after another bone marrow treatment, her head was hurting and she was alone on the table. By now, almost half of the men here had managed to gain all five of her powers, although they couldn't use them since they didn't know how.
Ethan had almost gotten all of the bone marrow he wanted off of the poor girl and he wasn't certain with what he'd do with her after. He didn't want other humans that weren't loyal to him to get the treatment because he wanted to be superior to everyone else.
As Cassie tried to ignore the pain taking over her entire body, she cut up her food to eat. It never got easier in the past week that she had been used as an experiment.
Simon slides in the chair opposite her with a small smile on his face, "Cassie."
"Don't call me that," she says calmly, her eyes on her food and he nods. He had tried to adopt the nickname for her that past two days but she didn't like the sound of it when it wasn't rolling off of Brad's tongue. "Anyway, what do you want?"
"I overheard Ethan talking about you," Simon explains and she looks up from her tray and sets down her knife and fork. "They're planning on setting up a huge dinner and inviting your friends. I think you're going home."
Her heart beat increases at the hope of seeing Brad.
Simon glances to the side, noticing some guards staring at them as they walk inside the canteen, "pick up your knife and fork and act casual."
She does as she's told, continuing to eat the bangers and mash she'd been served. He starts eating his dinner, too.
"Listen, I'll try and keep you updated on the meal," Simon says. "But I thought I'd let you know, even though it's not certain."
"Why would they just let me leave? They'll want to hurt me," Cassandra says. "They'll want my bone marrow again. They won't let me leave, it'll be a trap for my friends and I."
At first, she didn't know why they were drilling into her but Simon soon told the young girl. He felt sorry for her, since he could see how draining it was to her.
"No," Simon shakes his head. "Ethan won't lie about that. Besides, he's finished with the bone marrow treatment now."
"Has he?" She asks, relief washing through her body as he nods. Her shoulders relax slightly. She had time to recover before she sees Brad. "And the meal, when is that?"
"Three days," Simon glances back at the two guards that were watching them closely. "Listen, I'm gonna come by your room later and give you something. I can't do it now because the guards are watching us."
She tilts her head, nodding, "Okay."

Later that night, she was waiting for Simon to drop by. When he does, she instantly stands up off of her small bed.
Simon looks over his shoulder before closing the door so that it's shut properly and he diverts his eyes back to the girl, "here."
At first, she frowned at the small device in Simon's hand for she didn't know what he meant by it but she recognised it moments later and realised its her phone.
"We don't have long, but I thought you could talk to your friend," Simon purses his lips. "Let him know you're okay, talk to him."
"How long will I have?" She asks as she takes it in her hand and unlocks it. Simon had charged it for her after he'd found it. He knew it was hers because the lock screen was a picture of her and Charlie.
"Five minutes," Simon says. "It's better than nothing, though. Hurry up."
She nods, him leaving to guard the room as she finds Brad's contact and was about to hit the ring button but Simon stops at the door.
"Oh, one more thing," he says and she looks up, watching him smash the camera in the corner of her room. "Have fun on your call."
She smiles as he closes the door and she clicks the call button anxiously, raising it to her ear as soon as it showed that it was ringing.
Within one ring, Brad had picked up, "Cassie?" He had been training all night, so he was alone downstairs in the training room listening to music when his phone started ringing. He was confused why she was ringing, he didn't think it was possible.
"Brad," she grinned as she heard him speak.
"Cassie, oh my god," Brad says in amazement, in disbelief. "How are you calling me? Are you okay?"
"I have a friend here. He found my phone so I could let you know that I'm fine," she sniffs as tears run down her face and she starts sitting down on the bed as she wipes them away. "I miss you, so much."
"I miss you too," he smiles, his legs weak. "I miss you so much. When you're back I'm gonna take you out on that date I promised, right? And we're figuring out a plan to get you back."
"I know you are," she nods. "Listen, I don't have long but Ethan found a way to hold our powers even though he's human. He might try and attack you if you come so have a fool proof plan. I can't lose you."
His fists clench, "you're not going to, baby. You're never gonna lose me, and I'm never gonna lose you. You're my soul mate, okay?"
"Okay," she rubs her eyes that were stinging from the countless tears streaming down her face.
"Stay strong," he tells her. "You're not gonna be there much longer, I know it. Just imagine me by your side all the time, and remember to wrap up warm at night when I'm not there."
"I wish you were here," she whispers out as Simon opens the door. "I'm gonna have to go now, okay?"
"Okay, baby," he says back, a weak smile on his face. "Remember what I said? We'll be there soon."
"I know."
"I love you," he says and a grin spreads on to her face. "I love you and I'll see you soon, okay?"
"I love you too," she breathes out as she ends the call moments later. Simon takes it and shoves it into his back pocket. "Thank you, Simon."
"It's fine," Simon smiles as the girl wraps her arms around him as a sign of gratitude. She looked a mess from crying. "I have to go now, I have meetings I need to attend. But I'll be back tomorrow for training."
"Okay," she nods. "Keep me updated on the dinner you were on about earlier?"
"Of course."
