Chapter 6

        when we got to Veronicas apartment we went straight to her room which was massive.  " Oh, Ava I have this eyeliner and mascara that will go perfect with you.  Come here and i'll put it on you" oh no.

 " Thanks but I already have some on and if I take this off then i'll have to redo my whole face." I say smoothly.  "Come on we like a whole hour of doing nothing and you will look gorgeous even more than you already do.  And who knows maybe you'll find that special someone."  Kevin says. Yes Kevin knows a lot about my family but the one thing I have been able keep to myself was the abuse.  No one knows well I take that back Betty has an idea of what's going on but she never asks me about it.  I decided to change the subject.  "That's not needed." I say quietly just above a whisper but loud enough to make sure they both heard it.  " What was that Ms. Ava Peterson. Have you found yourself a boyfriend?" Veronica asked. I hate that word. Boyfriend. " well I wouldn't call him that but kinda." Veronica squealed and asked me who it was. "you wouldn't know him he doesn't go to Riverdale." I told Veronica.  

" Then who is he?" Kevin asked "You wouldn't know his name but if he is at the drive in i'll point him out to you." they both nodded to say okay and Veronica started asking about Kevins love life.  I hated that I had to bring up Joaquin but it was the only way not to bring any suspension on to why I wasn't taking off my makeup.  Speaking about Joaquin I forgot to look at his text.  I got on my phone and went to my messages.  "Hey just letting you know that the Serpants are going to be at the drive-in so if you go try to get as close up as possible." I smile at how considerate he's being and put the thumbs up emoji and said thanks for the heads up. " hey guys since it's the last movie im sure it's going to be packed.  You want to go in a little early to try to get a better seat?" I ask them they both nodded their head and went back down to Kevins truck.  by the time we got to the drive in it was 7:45 so we defininty weren't in the best positions to be.  We all got out and put blankets on the back of the truck and sat down.  "What are we watching again?" I asked " Rebel without a cause." Kevin said " Thank god I can watch James Dean all day." I said with a smile.  They both nodded their head in agreement.  All of a sudden I hear motorcycles pull up and my heart almost dropped.  Let the yelling begin.  

Needless to say that Joaquins warning should've been takin more seriously.  I could barely hear the movie.  "South side trash." Kevin said in disguised " they have been that since the opening credits." Veronica replied.  Suddenly Kevin turned his head over to look at them and shushed them. I laughed at this knowing it would do absolutly nothing. Then Veronica stood up and turned around.  oh shit was all I could say " Hey, you know what happens to a snake when a louiebatton heal steps on it? Shut the hell up or you will find you."  I laughed this and kept on eating my popcorn all the cars honked and gave her a thumbs up and she did like a little curtsy and said thank you and sat back down. 

I looked over at Kevin and it looked  like he just saw a ghost " I cannot believe you just threatened a gang banger." Kevin said. " They are not gang bangers Kevin." I looked down at my popcorn and noticed that I needed a refill.  I stood up and looked at the Serpants most of them I knew and they were nice all things considered and suddenly I landed eyes on Joaquin and he was looking back at me with a smirk.  I quickly looked away and back down to Kevin and Veronica. "i'm going to go get a refill do you guys want anything?" Kevin said some gummy worms.  I nodded my head and got off the truck and headed towards the concession  stand.  As soon as I got into the line I felt somebody behind me.  I turned around and it was Joaquin.  "looks like you didn't take my warning too seriously" he said with a smile.  " By the time I saw your text and when we actually got here it was too late." I said with a smile. 

 Then all of a sudden he leans in for a kiss instead of leaning away I leaned in and closed my eyes and when our lips touched I was freaking out on the inside. " Next" I hear the server say to me. as much as I didn't want to I ended the kiss I had to because there were other people waiting in line behind me I immediately started smiling when I opened my eyes again and he did too. I broke our eye contact and walked up to the stand and asked for a refill on the popcorn and some gummy worms.  the total was five dollars and I gave him a five and grabbed my stuff and walked away.  Joaquin was still behind me but was out of line and started walking with me.  He grabbed a handful of my popcorn and started eating it.  I gave him a light push in the other direction and  that caused him to smirk.  "Wheres FP?" I asked him since I didn't see him with the group. " he's probably getting the payment." He told me while looking around for him. "Payment? What payment?" I asked this caused Joaquin to look back down at me " You don't know?" he asked "Know what?" I asked getting more anxious.  You can tell that he was tryin to decide whether he should tell me or not. But he finally gave in 

"The anonymous buyer who is buying the drive-in hired to serpants t-" he didn't have to finish his sentence for me to connect the dots. "Cause chaos at the drive in to bring down the prices." I say nodding my head. " Yeah how'd you know?" he asks me "It makes since that you all start reeking havoc around the same time that we figure out that its closing.  My only question is who?"  He nods his head in agreement.

  " Ok I should probably get going back to my friends, Kevin is probably wondering what is taking so long" I say with a smile.  he smiles back leans in and gives me a peck on the lips and I try my best not to start blushing "I'll see you later" he says as he starts walking back to his group.  I wipe the smile off my face as I go in front of the cars to get to Kevins truck.  Once he sees me he puts his hands out and I toss him the gummy worms.  Where's Veronica I asked while getting on the back of the truck. He looks around  "I don't know. Bathroom maybe."  I shrugged my shoulders and didn't thank too much of it.  Veronica came back a few minutes later with a weird look on her face. I quietly asked if she was alright and she gave me a quick nod and I didn't think anymore of it.

Once the movie was over I grabbed all the trash and went to go throw it away in the trash can I looked over to where the Serpants are but I didn't see Joaquin.  About that time I get a phone call From him. " hello?" I asked when I picked up. " Hey this guy named Abel is having a party over on the south side I was wondering if you wanted to come?"he asked " Oh I would but my dad is going to be expecting me home." I say. "Alright if you change your mind just text me." he said with a sigh. "Will do." I say as I hung up. "absolutly not" I said when I hung up.

  when I walked back they were both already in the car.  when I got in I saw them both staring at me. "What?" I asked. Kevin was the fist to speak "Who was that on the phone?" I looked at both of them and they were waiting for a response.  No use in lying now "That was Joaquin. Now can we please go and try to beat the traffic" I say with a smile. They both laugh while Kevin started the car.  

When we got to Pops I got out of the car and told them both goodbye and they left I got into my car and started heading home.  When I got home all the lights were still on.  Thats weird he is usually passed out by now.  I went to open the door but it was Locked.  I groaned at what this meant.  My dad told me a while after mom died that if I came home and the door is locked than the usually means that he has a women in there with him.  well shit. I usually go to Bettys but something has been up with her lately so I can't go there.  Can't go to Kevins because its always awkward with sheriff Keller when he is there.  Veronica will just ask questions.  So I did the thing that I never in a million years thought I would do.  I pulled out my phone and texted Joaquin.  Plans changed ill be over there in a few.  I sent the text and gotten my car and headed over to the south side.
