Joaquin

Chapter 26

I got on the dress that my mom picked out for me and it felt so weird to see it on me. I have never worn it because it wasnt long after she picked it out that she died.  I fixed my hair to the best of my ability and put on little to no make up on. I walked out of the bathroom and Joaquin  was sitting outside with a black suite on and he did look good. "You amazing Ava" he says looking at me this caused me to blush but I did my best to hide it. "You don't look to bad yourself Joaquin." I say with a smile. "You ready to go?" I asked him and he nodded his head and we got in my car and headed over to the high school. 

 We got there a little late so it wouldn't be awkward that we were one of the few people that was there. We walked over to the punch bar and Joaquin made himself and me a drink. "If I would have remembered I would have bright some liquor and spiked the drink." This caused me to laugh as I took a drink fo my punch. I saw Jughead and Betty walk in together and that reminded me of what Betty told me later that day. "Hey did you hear that Fp and Jughead went over to the Coopers for dinner?" I asked him with a smile.  He looked at me surprised "I cannot see Fp sitting down at a dinner table eating like a normal family." He says with a smile. "I know right." I look over at Betty again and she was talking to Jughead "I am going to go see how it went I will be right back." I say and he nods his head. "Hey guys how's it going?" I asked them and they said good. "I am going to go get a drink" Jughead said as he left leaving me and Betty. "So how did the dinner go?" I asked smiling "More like an interrogation." she said in an aggravated. "That bad huh?" I say with my smile gone "It was so awkward." she says while shaking her head "Well I am sorry to hear that." I tell her and she nods her head.  A slow song starts and I felt somebody put their arm around my arm.   I quickly turn around and I see Joaquin smiling at me "Would you like to dance?" He asks I told Betty goodbye and I started dancing with Joaquin "So did they ever have dances at the south side?" I asked and he just laughed "Uh no not really this is my first one." the told me " It's a first for both of us.   I'm just surprised that you agreed; with you having to keep yourself looking like a badass." I say smiling and he starts to laugh. " I say that if Fp can go to a family dinner with his kids girlfriends parents then I can go to homecoming with my girlfriend." this caused me to blush as the song ended. We call clapped and they started playing an upbeat song. 

 "Hey have you seen Archie and Veronica?" Betty asked coming up to us. We looked around and I saw them walk in. "Right there." I say to Betty but as soon as I did Alice came up to them and started talking. "What the hell?" Archie walked off and started walking over to Jughead and Veronica soon followed. I turned and looked at Joaquin," I will be right back". I didn't wait for a response as me and Betty both walked over to them. "Where were you guys?" Betty asked when we approached them. It took Archie a second to respond but once he did he said that they were at pops. And that was a total lie. "And what were you just talking to my mom about?" She asked " Guys can we table this? We have to get ready, come on?" He said motioning towards Veronica. About that time the Mayor started talking and I smiled at Veronica and left to go find Joaquin. Veronica and Archie started signing and it looks like they are a thing now.  I looked over at Joaquin and he looks like he was having fun. He definite dropped his bad boy act for the night. When the song was over I saw Archie and Veronica walking towards the hall and I knew that Betty wouldn't be far behind. "Dont hate me but I will be right back." I tell Joaquin "You know you really suck at this whole dance thing" he says to me "I will be right here" He tells me as he sits down in a chair.  He looked mad but I didn't know if he was being serious or if it was just him playing with me but I did't have anytime to figure it out especially if it was something important "I will make it up to you I promise." I say as I walk over to the hallway. 

 "What the hell is going on guys?" I hear Betty say as I approach them. "Before you get mad let me explain." Veronica says "Explain what that you are working with my mother behind my back?" She asked "I'm sorry, but you know that Fp had some kind of run in with my fatherI had to make sure it wasn't about Jason Blossom."  Betty looks over at Archie "And what's your excuse?" she asked "I was looking out for Jughead incase Fp was doing shady stuff.   To protect him."He says in a defensive tone.  "Blame me guys I asked Archie to help me." Veronica says looking at both of us. "But that's just it what did you two do?" I asked them but before they could reply Jughead walks up " Guys what's going on.  Why do I feel like I am suddenly being left out?" he asked when he walked up to us. Betty turns back around and looks at Archie "Do you want to tell him or should I?" Archie walks past Betty "We went to your dads trailer to search it" He says "Why would you guys do that?" He asked "My mom put them up to it?"

About that time I got a text from Joaquin I open it. "Something is happening in here and I think it's important. About that time everybody parents walk in with Kevin "My dad just told Mayor McCoy about your dad Jughead" Kevin says "What about my dad?" Jughead asked "He was arrested for the murder of Jason Blossom. In that moment it was like everything just stopped for a moment . Like it was going in slow motion but all the bad things that are happening are happening right on schedule.

I called Joaquin right after Jughead ran out and we met at my car. "Do you know anything about this?" I ask him when we got into the car.  He didn't say anything and he didn't have to.  I let out a sob and I looked at him. "How bad?" I asked hime while the tears were running down my face "Pretty bad". I look a deep breathe before answering my next question. "What did you guys do?" I asked and he told me the whole story of what happened to Jason. "But you didn't see him pull the trigger correct?" I asked "I mean yeah but when I got there he was pretty shaken up." He told me "That doesn't matter if you didn't see him pull the trigger there is still a possibility that he is innocent" I tell him trying to convince me more than him.   I don't know what I am going to do if I loose the two most important guys in my life.  I don't think I can take another hit like this.

When me and Joaquin got back to his trailer I got a call from Betty. "hello?" I asked "where are you?" She asked me "At Joaquins why?" This caused Joaquin to turn around and wait to see what Betty was going to say " They found the gun that killed Jason in Fps house.  But here's the thing Archie and Veronica told us that when they searched Fps house that there was no gun." hearing this made me start pacing the trailer and Joaquin was starting to wonder what was happening. I put my phone on speaker and motioned him to be quiet. "Well that's good news right? It shows that the gun was planted and Archie and Veronica can vouge for it." hearing this caused Joaquins eyes to get big. "Fp just confessed to Sheriff Keller."

Once I hung up the phone I looked at Joaquin. "What are the odds of this getting back to you?" I asked scared to know the answer. "Only two people knew that I was there and that was Fp and Mustang. " I nodded my head "This is good. They would never rat you out." I knew for sure Fp wouldn't but I wasn't a hundred percent sure about Mustang.
