The sunlight beamed through my curtains and onto my closed eyes.I flipped over until someone barged in.
"Kimmy, time to wake up!!!"Brick climbed onto my bed and began jumping on it like a 5 year old.I reached for my phone on the night stand to see that it was 11:30 AM.I rolled the only eye that I had open and covered my head up.
"Oh, no, you don't."Brick ripped the covers off of me and onto the ground.I groaned and looked at him.He was already dressed and ready to go.
"Come on, Brick.Five more minutes, please."I pleaded.
"Girl, no.Get up, we're going out to eat and then we're going to Andretti's.Don't make me come back in here, either."He pointed two fingers at me and then back at his eyes.I threw my face back down onto my pillow and got up.
I did my hygiene and got dressed in my best outfit and smiled at myself in satisfaction.
I walked out of the room and went downstairs to meet the guys.Brick furrowed his eyebrows and Kyle wide eyed me as he drank his wine.They all looked at me side eyed.My anxiety was starting to get the best of me.I looked down and rubbed my arm.
"Kim, we gotta take you shopping.You can't wear - uh - this if you're going to be going out with us."Brick said holding my shoulders.My face grew red with embarrassment as I continued to look down.
"Okay."I murmured.
They guys took me to Rodeo Drive and took me to multiple stores to update my wardrobe.I tried on, what felt like, 100 pieces of clothing.They also took me to Sephora and Ulta Beauty to get some makeup so I could start practicing how to do it.
We all packed the bags into the van and drove back to Kyle's house.The guys started putting the bags inside one by one.I went upstairs to change into a different outfit and attempt to put on some makeup.I started with something basic like mascara and some lipgloss.It made a HUGE difference.I took out my flat iron and did my hair and I looked so - beautiful.I even felt like I was beautiful.I've never felt like this before.I really liked this feeling.
I finished up and went downstairs to meet the guys.Everyone's eyes almost popped out of their heads.Kyle looked at me and stopping drinking his wine.
"Wow, Kim.You look amazing."Kyle said sitting his wine down.A smile grew across my face.Everyone looked back at Kyle in astonishment.
"What, I can't compliment someone?"He said throwing his hands up.
"Hm."Brick began to drink whatever was in his cup.Everyone started laughing and we all left.
We went to Five Guys to go and eat before we went to Andretti's.The vibe that was amongst us was so peaceful.
"Hey, Kim."Kyle sat next to me and began to speak.
"Hey."I smiled at him and turned my attention to him.
"Look, I'm really sorry for how I've been treating you.A lot has been happening before you came along and I didn't know how to cope with my stress."He looked down in disappointment.
"It's okay, Kyle.Don't even trip.I'm not mad at you."I could never be mad at Kyle.I just didn't understand why he would take his stress out on me though.At least he apologized for it now.He smiled that perfect smile at me again and my heart melted.I returned the smile and just enjoyed his.
"Sorry to break up the love fest, but we gotta go."Jesus said snapping in our faces.
Jesus was like the parent of the group.He always made sure that we were in check and he always made sure that we were okay.
"Okay."I said, laughing a little.My face felt hot and the redness came back.Why can't I just have him already?
We made it to Andretti's and it was something that I didn't really expect.It was an indoor go - kart place with an arcade attached and a huge bowling alley.We all decided that we were going to race first, bowl and then have some fun at the arcade.The race was everything that I imagined.The adrenaline that raced through me was something that have never felt before.We all took off our helmets and fled to the bowling alley.It was also very amusing.Of course, Jesus won.Then finally to finish up our fun day, we filled up our gaming cards and went to the arcade area.Kyle & I played a lot of games together which I was kind of surprised about.
"I won, give me my money."I danced around and held my hand out for my $20 that Kyle promised me if I beat him at the basketball game.
"That was a lucky game, you're not that good."Kyle laughed as he handed me my money.
"I'm better than you.I'm Steph and you're Daniel Theis."I laughed as we walked to our next game.
"Who?"
"Exactly."I couldn't stop laughing.I haven't been this happy in a really long time.Kyle gazed at me as I laughed.
"What?"I asked, dying down a bit.
"Nothing, you're just - beautiful."My heart almost jumped out of my chest when I heard those words escape Kyle's mouth.I looked up at him and then down at my shoes.I could feel myself turning red.Kyle raised my chin and looked me deep in the eyes.He inched closer and closer to my face.Am I actually about to kiss Kyle?Could this really be happening?
"Yo, Kyle, come on, man.We're leaving!"Brick yelled from across the arcade.Kyle shut his eyes and let my face go.We were so close, but yet so far.What if it actually did happen?What would that even make us?
"Come on."Kyle held out his hand for me to hold and we walked towards the front doors of Andretti's.
We exited and met everyone outside at the van.Brick looked at me with a surprised look and I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head.
If only we had a few seconds longer.
