As the sun rises, the moon falls
that's just how the day unravels
and with the new crimson chrysanthemum dawn
comes the aching of the night before
riled up against your ever rattling rib cage
and it haunts the shadows
that dance in closed eyelids
blinking away the threat of salty unshed sobs
but here we are
a new day
a new breath
rebirth from the pain of yesterday
relief from the suffering of all that the past entails
because brains rewire, eyes lift, lips curl
and though the midnight hours
still bang on the door in the back of your brain
they are not dominant in the gentle breeze carding through your delicately cradled fingers
they are not present in the genuine laugh that slips off your tongue like silk
do not let them be
for the moon no longer reigns
in the dark and depth of the night
and whether or not
the day holds any worth in your eyes
know that you hold worth in mine
and as the sun forces the moon
to sink under its flaming hue,
grasping for the life that the morning brings
you have the ability to cleanse the sin off your skin
because love, I will promise you this always
we are going to make it to thirty
but right now, we are going to bathe
in the warmth of a new day•••
A/N: I do indeed believe that you above all else are the star that outshines the moon at night, and though it may dim, it never fully fades away
