Two weeks later it was time for my dad and Ciara to leave. Jack was allowed out for a few hours the night before to go out for dinner. Things were getting better. Alex and Jack were best friends again, like nothing had happened. Alex and I were becoming better at the "best friend" thing, I preferred it this way honestly and I think he did too.
"I'm going out for some air." Ciara said. She got up and left through the side door of the restaurant. I excused myself and followed her.
"What's up Ciar?" I asked. She was leaning up against the barrier surrounding the decking outside.
"I'm leaving tomorrow." she simply said, not moving her gaze from grass.
"I know Sweetie but whats up?"
"I don't want to go Sophie! I miss ye so much. It's been hard without you and Hannah. You're dad is always sad when I come visit, you're never there! You're always too busy to Skype me and I miss you."
"Ciara, you've never told me any of this."
"You're happy. Everytime I ask about ye, ye seem happy. You both have your boyfriends and your awesome apartment and amazing life while I'm stuck in Ireland in school."
"You only have a year left Ciara, after this one! Why don't you move over here after that?"
"I can't. I've got into a school in London."
"Ciara, listen I promise to try make time for you! And we're coming to Ireland when we're on tour! We'll visit you, we promise!"
She smiled at me and hugged me. "Promise that you won't forget about me?" she whispered.
"I promise."
After my dad and Ciara went back home, time went as quickly as grains of sand through a sive. Jack got better, well he was healing faster now. The cast was removed and the gash on his forehead was fading to a simple scar. He was home now. Because Jack's place was still being fixed, he moved in with me and Hannah for the time being. I had to look after him most of the time because his ribs were slowly repairing. The tour was back on. Everybody was relieved and we were starting in a month. We were a bit behind schedule but the whole tour had moved dates and fans didn't seem to mind and understood the situation.
"Hey Hannah got any of that noodle soup?" Jack smiled. He was lying on the couch with his head on my lap.
"You must be joking boy! Get up off your skinny little ass and come make some yourself!" she shouted from the kitchen but I could see her scooping it into a bowl.
"But yours is so much nicer!" he moaned. She walked over with the bowl.
"Here, I hope you're happy!" Hannah put the bowl down on the table and kissed his forehead and he smiled delighted with his soup. Hannah's birthday was a few weeks ago and we had a party in the same place as Alex's just minus the drama. It felt weird, like we'd actually grown up, become adults. Before it would have been us shouting at our dad wanting soup when we were sick, now we were the ones getting it for Jack, he still hadn't grown up and probably wouldn't.
"Everyone's invited over for a party tomorrow." Hannah skipped into the kitchen.
"Why?" I asked surprised.
"We have to celebrate!" I noticed she was in a really good mood since last night.
"Hannah, what's up?" I asked suspicious now.
"Well I suppose you are my best friend, so I should tell you. But loverboy there better keep his mouth shut!" she looked kind of serious. Jack pretended to zip his mouth shut and grinned through his mouthful of soup.
"Ew gross!" I said as the soup leaked out of his mouth. I tried to wipe it off but he caught me in a kiss. It was weird, really weird actually but I had to compare Jack's kissing to Alex, they were practically the same. It was soft and warm at the start before it became more passionate.
"EW, that's gross, you're bedrooms over there Sophie. Now stop eating his face and listen!" Hannah stomped her foot. Jack pulled away kissing me one more time gently. He smiled on my lips.
"Okay! Seriously!" Hannah shouted. Our heads both snapped forward at the same time and we both laughed. Hannah stood on front of us and rolled her eyes.
"Okay, well I have some news-" she began.
We were all gathered in the living room, even though I knew he was cool with it, I tried not to be all over Jack when Alex was around. I sat next to Sarah on the floor resting my head on her shoulder. All of our friends were here, I was proud of me and Hannah, we'd made ourselves quite a good few close friends. Everybody was waiting for Hannah to declare her news. I sat there holding back my tears as I watched my best friend stand up in front of our friends. Brendon stood next to her holding her hand.
"Umm everybody, we have an announcement. Our closest friends are here today. Honestly I never thought I could say 'Zack Merrick? Yeah we're best bud's!' but all of you, really I can't believe how quickly we've become so close. Sophie and Alex, you really brought us all together. Thank you so much, if you too didn't meet Sarah and Pete, Celine and Zack and Brendon and I wouldn't have met." Everybody looked around and smiled at each other. Pete leaned down over my shoulder and kissed my cheek then Sarah's hair. "In a few weeks, some of us are going on tour, others aren't but there's no way we'll separate. I won't be able to cope if we do! I know a way that is guaranteed that we will all be friends after the year and a half of touring. All of you in this room are part of Brendon and my wedding party. We're engaged!" she shouted. Everybody stood up and cheered and cried and all hugged. This was happiness. This was perfect, the way I wanted my life to be.
