Chapter 3

Charity

Nandito kami ngayon sa school canteen, at magkakahiwalay kami ng pwesto sa canteen, kumakain kami habang may mga wireless earphones sa mga tenga namin, this earphone reached every single one of them.

"Still no sight of The Angel, Boss." Ylona said, napatingin ako sa direksyon niya na medyo malayo saamin, tumitingin siya sa paligid.

"That's what you said when Charity got stab right into her stomach." I heard Dave said. He is not that far from me, because he is right in front of me eating spaghetti like I do. He looks like a kid while eating.

"Yeah, I know. But this time I see no angel around. Even the alarms are not going on." I heard Ylona said again, I heard Dave sighed.

"It doesn't matter if we can't see her now, we can just attack her when we saw her, you don't have to look, Ylona." I heard Keil said on the other line.

"But if I lost sight of her, the students will have a bloody dinner. I won't let that happen." I heard Ylona seriously said.

"Take a break Ylona, you barely touched your food. Hayaan mo na si Jake, Ivan, Gian at Clever na ang tumingin sa paligid." I heard Irie said.

"Irie's right, Ylona. Nasa labas naman si Jake, Fian, Ivan, at Clever. Kaya nga sila nasa labas para sa look out diba? Take a rest, you've done enough." This time it was me who talked. We girls together with Dave and Keil are inside the canteen, eating. While the four boys are out side for the look out, also eating their dinner.

"Fine." Ylona sighed and started to eat her food. Napatingin naman ako kay Dave, sinenyasan ko siyang patayin ang earphones niya dahil ayaw kong may makarinig ng paguusapan namin. And he did. Pinatay ko rin ang akin.

"What?" He asked while taking a bite at his food.

"Is Ylona this really hard working?" I asked him and took a bite. Nilunok niya muna ang pagkain sa bibig niya bago sumagot saakin.

"Yup, she is. That is why Keil fell for her, to sad, we don't expect to live in heaven after we kill The Angel anyway." Dave answered, nanlaki ang mata ko.

"Keil's inlove with Ylona?" Gulat kong tanong dito, he gave me nod as his answer. No wonder, he's been with her when Ylone saw me and Dave at the rooftop. Hmm.

"Ikaw, Dave. Have you ever fell inlove with someone here in The Afterlife?" I asked him, natigilan ito at umiling.

"It's not important. Continue eating." He said, like he was avoiding the question. Hmm. I wonder what happened. He's too obvious. Reaksyon niya palang buking na siya.

Palihim akong napangisi, I wonder who was that bad girl? Dave is like the type of guy who likes bad girls.

"Matapos itong operasyon na to, tapos nakapagpahinga ka na, magising ka ng 4:30 am. I need to train you." Dave seriously said, natigilan ako ng konti. What? I need to train?

"Kailangan pa ba yun?" I asked and took another bite. He nodded, I rolled my eyes. Ang hirap talagang mabuhay dito kaya gusto ko ng mamatay pero hindi eh. Kailangan talaga. Anyway, I admire Dave as a leader, he's really good at this.

Nagising ako sa biglang katok sa pintuan ng dorm ko, nandito ako sa higaan at nakamulat ang isa kong mata habanag nakatingin sa paligid. Agad akong napabangonng bigla kong naalala ang training namin ni Dave. Putek.

Agad akong napalingon sa wall clock, 4:35 am. Shit naman. Agad akong bumangon. At sumigaw ng..

"Teka! Magbibihis lang ako!" I shouted.

"You better not be lying in your bed, you crazy girl!" Napairap ako at nagmadaling nilabas ang leggings at black crop top ko. Kinuha ko na rin ang towel at tubig ko. Sinuot ko na ang mga damit at pati na rubber shoes ko.

Kainis naman ang aga aga kasi eh. I didn't dare to brush my hair kasi alam ko naman na maayos ito kahit gulohin ko pa. Agad akong napasugod sa pinto at binuksan ito.

Bumungad saakin ang Dave na nakatingin sa relo niya, nakasuot ng white shirt, jogging pants, and black rubber shoes. Tapos hindi niya suot ang cap, hawak niya sa kabila niyang kamay ang water bottle at towel niya.

"You are 7 minutes, 2 seconds, and 9 milliseconds late, Charity." Napairap nalakng ako sa bungad niya saakin, hindi ba pwedeng good morning? Bwiset to.

"Good Morning too, Dave." I said rolling my eyes, hindi niya ako pinansin at nagsimula kaming mag-lakad paalis ng dorm naming girls. Yup, boys are allowed to come in girls dormitory.

Sinundan ko lang siya habang pumunta kami sa rooftop. Paborito niya talaga dito eh no?

"Hindi ba mas magandang mag training sa lupa?" I said while tapping the cemented ground with my feet and looking at it. Umangat ang tingin ko sakanya na nakatalikod saakin habang nag stretching siya. Sumulyap ito saakin at sinagot ako.

"Yeah, but I prefer here." He answered then faced me. Binaba ko na ang bottle at towel ko sa may terrace. Humarap ako sakanya ay nanlaki bigla ang mata ko ng napasandal muli ako sa terrace. Magkalapit lang ang mukha naming pareho, walang emosyon ko itong tiningnan.

Pero biglang dumako ang tingin ko sa collarbone niya, it has a band aid. Inangat ko ang kanang kamay ko ay hinawakan ang collarbone niya.

"What happened to this?" I asked him. Hindi niya ako pinigilan habang hinaplos ko ang nakabandaid niyang collarbone, instead, he answered my question.

"After dinner last night, I was walking around the school then a dart came from my right side. Umilag ako pero nasugatan parin ito." He answered me, nagsalubong ang kilay ko, what the hell? Does anyone hate him so bad that that person want's him out of this world? I smirked, too bad, he can't die here.

"It will heal after the day ends, for now, I have to train you." Lumayo na siya saakin pero medyo malapit parin siya kaya nahahaplos ko parin ang collarbone niya. Napatingin ako sa mata niya, he's seriously looking at my eyes directly. T-those eyes... it's like--

Natigilan ako saglit, he cupped my left cheek.

"You're eyes are---" natigilan kami bigla ng biglang gumalaw ang lupa. My eyes widened and looked the floor while I held Dave's shoulder tight.

"Shit... are you okay?" He asked my worriedly when the shaking was gone, what the hell was that? Umangat ang ulo ko at tumingin sakanya.

"I'm fine, what on afterlife was that?" I asked him, he looked seriously on the ground before answering me.

"Meaning, there's something crashed down..." he looked at the school grounds, nanlaki ang mata ko sa gulat ng makita ang isang malaking butas dito, there was a lot of smoke. How could we not have notice that thing? It's like it crashed, but how?

"What the hell?"
