"Y/n" Daniel says over the phone to his girlfriend

"Yeah" she replies, quickly but faintly

"You must think that I'm stupid, or a fool" he shakes his head, his eyes tearing up.

"Daniel, What?" Y/n is confused. She loves Daniel with her whole heart.

"You must think that I'm new at this whole thing, but I've seen it all before" he pushes a chair.

"Daniel I'm nearly at your house. I'll be a couple minutes, I love you" she hangs up and carries on driving.

She pulls up in his driveway and gets his house key out her pocket. She places it into the keyhole and twisted it. Walking into the living room where Daniels swirling a bit of alcohol in his cup.

"Hey, Daniel" she walks in slowly

"What are you doing here" he doesn't look at her, but carries on staring at his fire place.

"Why don't you just tell me what's on your chest?" She sits beside him. Taking the glass of alcohol of him.

"I can't" he kicks a chair that looks like it's already been kicked 20 times

"Yes you can Daniel, I'm your girlfriend" she moves the chair out the way.

"I can't y/n" he breaks down

"Why not Daniel" she grabs his hand in hers. His skin as cold as anything.

"You know, you know I'm never gonna let you close to me, even if you meant the most to me" his teary eyes look into her beaming blue ones

"Why" holds his hand tighter

"Because. Because every. Everytime I.. I open up it hurts" he stutters

"Daniel don't think like that" she turns his head to look at him.

"So, I'm never gonna get too close to you, even when I mean the most to you" he says, his tears making a river down his face.

"But why Daniel. I'm your girlfriend for a reason" she wipes his tears with her thumb

"Incase you leave me in the dirt" he breaks down again

"Daniel I'm not like your ex. I wouldn't do that to you." She wipes his tears again.

He looks up at her. He's been hurt too many times. Fucked over too many times. Can he not just find someone decent? Someone that will like him for him?

"I know you're thinking I'm heartless and cold" he pulls his hand away

"Daniel I am not thinking that at all... I'm thinking you're upset. Let me help you" she puts his hands back in hers

"Yes you are, but... but I'm just protecting my innocence and soul" he stands up, pulling his hands away, once again.

"Daniel I swear on my life I'm not thinking that. I understand you" she stands up as well.

He looks down at his girlfriend. It's been 11 months with her.

"I'm sorry" he cries again, hugging her, making her shirt wet.

"Daniel don't be sorry" she's confused on what's got him thinking like this.

"Everytime... everytime you hurt me the less I cry" he mutters into her neck.

"I'm sorry for everything that I have done that has hurt you Daniel. It has never been my intention" she holds him a little tighter.

"Everytime you leave me, the quicker my tears dry, y/n. You know we don't stand a chance" he lets go of her. "It's sad but it's true" he looks down and let's go of her hand.

"Daniel What" Y/n's eyes start tearing up.

"I'm way too good at goodbyes for this y/n, I love you but we have no chance together" he leaves her standing there

"Daniel" she runs after him.

"It's for the best" he wipes her tears, putting on a faint  smile. Fake smile "goodbye" he walks out the house.
