Y/N

Today you decided to head down to the beach where your best friend Anthony or Harries as he went by worked as a lifeguard. Unlike other days today's temperature had hit over 43 degrees so the sand burned the soles of your feet as you jumped up and down cursing the sun. You preferred milder days, but looking around you weren't the only person getting burnt.

You find a nice spot not too far from the tower and put your towel down before getting settled for the next few hours.

"I would mock you like we do everyone else, but you're kind of a cute cat on a hot tin roof running across the sand y/n."

You smirk and look up directly at Harries over the rim of your sunglasses, who was smiling like a madman, already with his top off and hair wet indicating he'd probably already done a rescue today.

"Haha very funny, shouldn't you be keeping an eye on the water?"

He shakes his head, "I have a few minutes and I saw you through the binoculars. Today's going to be scorching, have you put sunscreen on?"

You laugh, "no I haven't mum. You going to put it on for me?"

He bends down and fishes the bottle out of your backpack and motions for you to turn around, "I can't have my favourite girl burning up, red doesn't suit you."

He applies the sunscreen all over your body and you ignore glares and stares from other people on the beach, especially those of the female variety, "you can understand why people think we're more than just friends Harries."

"Let people talk y/n, but me and you know the truth."

You sigh in agreement. The two of you had been friends for the last ten years, and you were very close with his wife. There was never going to be anything romantic between the two of you.

"All done y/n if you get too hot take a dip in the water—"

"But stay between the flags," you cut in knowing that's what he was going to say next.

He rolls his eyes and puts the bottle back in your bag, "alright you cheeky monkey," he chuckles and ruffles your hair.

You watch him jog back towards the tower, and lie down to catch some sun yourself.

~FEW HOURS LATER~

A shadow looms over you, and when you open your eyes you see Harries standing above you wearing a mischievous look.

"What are you thinking?" you question cautiously, seeing Hoppo and Jesse behind him.

Harries rubs his hands together, "we've been watching you and we think you need to cool off."

Next thing you know Harries scoops you up bridal style and you're being carried down the beach.

"Harries put me down!" you squeal, slapping his bare chest.

"No can do sweetheart," he replies jokingly.

You liked the water, but not when your hair looked good. Harries stops running, and you're thrown through the air and land directly in a wave. You resurface and glare at your best friend, brushing your wet hair off your face.

"I hate you, Harries."

"You love me y/n and always will."

"Oi you two get out of the water and head up to the flags please," Yatesy yells over the megaphone, no seriousness in his voice.

Harries offers you a hand up, and you cheekily pull him down into the water with you.

"Seriously guys," Yatesy laughs.

You and Harries burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter, letting the waves wash over you.
