Today was a pretty big deal, today you were taking your four-week baby girl down to Bondi Beach to surprise your husband of two years, Glick, as well as showing her off to the lifeguards and seeing if she liked the water or not. Glick had told you that Harries had done the same thing as had Whippet, so you kind of felt like today you were going to baptise your little girl and pray that she liked the water just as much as her mum and dad.
"Come on baby girl, who wants to see daddy?" you coo, and just the mention of daddy gets the small babies attention. She would be a daddy's girl when she was older for sure and Glick would love every minute of it.
You get her dressed and pack a baby bag along with a beach bag for yourself since you had no idea how long you'd be down there for. Glick had been showing the guys photos, so today they would actually get to meet your bundle of joy.
Bondi Beach was only a fifteen minute walk so you decide to walk it because it was lovely outside, and after being heavily pregnant you kind of wanted to show off your toned body after losing the baby fat.
Usually, you'd have to knock on the lifeguard tower door, but because you were the wife of one of the lifeguards you got to just walk in like you owned the place. Whippet and Matt Dee were watching over the water as you round the corner by the medical bay and clear your throat, "Hello boys, working hard?"
Matt Dee jumps, whilst immediately to ear, "oh my god we finally get to meet her in person instead of through a phone."
He comes down to you and immediately takes the baby out of your arms, and because he was a dad himself you didn't mind because he had way more baby experience than you and Glick combined.
"Yeah, we wanted to surprise daddy and dip her feet in the water," you reply, smiling as Whippet puts on the baby voice everyone puts on around babies.
"Glick's down by the middle set of flags with your brother," Matt Dee speaks up.
You nod when Matt Dee said, brother, he meant lifeguard Chappo, who at the start wasn't too thrilled when you told him you and Glick were dating because Glick hadn't been at Bondi long and your brother had always been protective of you.
"Hand over the baby Whippet," Maxi pipes up, walking through the open door with Reidy behind him.
Out of all of the lifeguards you considered Maxi to be your best friend, "don't I get any love first?"
Maxi rushes over to you and squeezes you tightly, "damn you lost that baby fat fast, you were like a whale," he jokes.
His remark earns him a punch in the shoulder, "cheeky bastard."
By this point, Reidy has a hold of your daughter who seemed to be enjoying all the attention she was getting from the beautiful boys in blue. If only she knew how jealous everyone watching Bondi Rescue would be. Whippet had returned to watching the water with Matt Dee and you felt like you shouldn't distract them much longer.
"Okay Reidy, I need my daughter back please," you ask politely.
Reidy pouts but hands you your daughter back. Maxi follows you outside begging to hold her until you give in and let him carry her down the beach with the Bondi Rescue crew behind you. I guess the moment was going to be captured on camera for the whole world to see.
You approach the rhino which Chappo was sat in, while Glick stood on the back with the megaphone directing swimmers and tourists.
"Maybe if you were a little nicer they might listen to you babe," you call out playfully.
Glick whips his head around and his eyes go wide as he takes you, Maxi, and your daughter in, what are you doing here y/n?"
Maxi hands you your daughter back who makes small grabbing motions towards her daddy, "surprise! She wanted to see where daddy worked and meet his friends and her Uncle Chappo."
At the mention of his name Chappo gets out of the rhino and walks over to you, "little sis I'm so happy you're here, and you brought my stunning niece."
He takes your daughter from your arms and starts to rock her gently. When you told him you were pregnant at first he was a little mad because you and Glick were still young, but he came around and had been doting on her ever since the birth.
Glick jumps down onto the sand and wraps an arm around your shoulder, leaning down to kiss you on top of your head, "my two favourite girls. This is a really nice surprise y/n."
You lean against him, "we need to get her use to the water, I just hope she likes it as much as we do."
Glick chuckles, "I think she will, but first we need to get her away from Chappo and Maxi."
You walk up to your brother and tap him on the shoulder, "may I have my baby back please brother?"
He nods, "one baby coming right up," and hands you your daughter.
You then hand her off to Glick because you were going to be the one filming on your phone, despite the camera crew being behind you, because you didn't want to have to wait six months before the season aired on TV.
"Are you ready for your first dip in Bondi?" Glick awes, bouncing your daughter in his arms who started making cute gurgling noises which were her way of saying 'yes daddy I'm ready, bring on Bondi'.
You crouch down and start recording as Glick bounces her up and down in the shallows. At first, she made no reaction or sound, but after a minute she starts to gurgle again and jump in time with Glick's bounces, "I think she likes the water, Glick."
He looks up at you and smiles, "we're going to make a lifeguard out of her yet."
You turn the camera towards you and shake your head jokingly because Glick knew you wanted her to be a vet just like yourself. But at the end of the day when she was older, the two of you had agreed not to push her into anything and let her make her own decisions. Though deep inside Glick wanted her to be a lifeguard or photographer, while I wanted her to be a vet so we could start a family practice together.
"I think that's enough excitement for one day," you say, turning off the camera and dropping the phone back in your bag.
Glick stands up and rocks your daughter, who after the excitement had started to fall asleep despite the beach being loud and full of people due to the hot weather.
"Just like her mother, she'll be able to sleep through anything," Chappo pipes up, in a mocking older brother tone.
You roll your eyes, and Glick throws one arm around your shoulder, "as long as she has my looks Chappo everything else will be fine."
Maxi snorts, "you better hope she has her mums brains then."
Glick pouts while you high five Maxi, happy to have someone on your side. Today had been a successful day, you had three goals. One was to meet the other lifeguards which you completed, the second was to surprise daddy with the added bonus of your brother also being surprised by your presence, and the third goal was to see if your daughter liked the water which it appeared she did. You might come back when she was a few months old to see if she still liked the water again, but for now, you were content with your little family and how smoothly everything was going.
