JULES

Today it was y/n and I stationed in the rhino up at backpackers. It was so nice having another girl around instead of being stuck around a bunch of guys all day, not that they were that bad but having another girl around made coming to work each day a joy especially since Hoppo paired us up.

"Please can you get out of the water and head up the beach to the flags, we're getting annoyed of coming in and saving the same people," y/n shouts through the megaphone, a little snappier than usual. When normally she was quite calm and nice to people despite how dumb some tourists were.

"Get back in here y/n, before you scare the shit out of them," I call out.

y/n jumps off the back of the rhino and hops back into the passenger seat next to me, pulling her lifeguard hat down and rearranging her sunglasses. It was as if she'd been on edge all day, and I was genuinely concerned for my friends' wellbeing.

"Is everything okay y/n?"

y/n sighs loudly, "do you ever cry because life sucks and you want to die, and everything is terrible, but also things are going to be okay eventually, but right now it's bad and you don't want to wait and—"

"Slow down. What happened?" I ask, not use to hearing y/n ramble.

Behind the sunglasses it was clear y/n was trying not to cry, so something was serious.

y/n turns to face me still keeping the sunglasses on, "you know I was dating that guy, well turns out he was only using me because of the show to get more followers on social media, oh yes and he's also cheating on me."

That sucked because y/n seemed really happy with this guy, it was meant to be love at first sight but you could never know someone's true colours until they reveal themselves.

"Well you don't need that jerk in your life, we can have more girl time now and find you a nice clean cut guy who will treat you well y/n. Mark my words."

y/n smiles, "ah I love you so much Jules, you always have my back."

I lean over the divide and we hug it out, "I have your back y/n, now try and be nicer to the swimmers, they don't deserve your wrath."

y/n laughs, "I'll try and be nicer Jules but no promises."

We pull away and y/n gets back on the megaphone, while I direct swimmers with questionable hand gestures.
