As I promised well Miss Sandy and myself headed
to York City. Thought it best that Danna stayed in
Gettysburg. Don't need her gettin in trouble because what she thinks isn't so. I got more on
that fool mister White.
Hate him hate the man always did.  Seems Anna get better then sick again on and off for months
Like he was toying with her.

Least that's they way I am gettin it. Almost
like deathly ill then just fine for a week. Then
bam sick again. Folks sounds like he was slowly
killin her. Just couldn't get it right or gots scared.
Stopped then decided to try again. Hell don't really
know yet. Sure is pointing that way, I'll know more
after I talk to the Doctors she had two working on
her case.

Well Miss Sandy, let me stay at her place. Right
nice of her. Considering it doesn't look good for
non married lady having a man stay at her house.
Separate rooms of course. I gots settled in clean
uniform put on. Miss Sandy sent for one of the
Doctors, his name was Benton young feller
maybe three years out of training. Oh before I
forgets I didn't do as is proper. Meaning I didn't
inform York City Constable that I was in the city.
They could just try and foul up my investigation.

Well I ask Doctor Benton, straight out what killed
Mrs White. What he believed killed her.
He said I believe she died of arsenic poisionin.
She showed several of the symptoms. Then he
listed a few she had. Abdominal pain, nausea and
vomiting, muscle cramps, tingling of the fingers and toes. He said towards the end her skin was red kind of swollen. Then it darkened.

Then he told me it doesn't have a taste to it nor smell. I said the Doctor you work with what did he
think? This is where it gets a might interesting Folks. The other Doctor thought it was get this
just a heart condition and it ran its course killed
her. Next thing I ask is so you tell him what you
thought was wrong? Well Folks he did! Guess what, come on guess what that other Doctor said.

If you guessed he said you are still young and
have a lot to learn. That both show about the
same symptoms. Well you were right, you hit
nail dead on. Well I had that Doctor write up the
symptoms on two papers one with out his Diagnoses, one with so I could have the Post Doc.
look at it. Tell me what he thought it was. Then
show him the one with the Diagnoses.

Then I asked him not to tell any one he talked
to me. Then I asked how I could keep from gettin the other Doctor nervous when I talked to him.

Well now this Benton pretty damn smart.
He said just say you wanted to know because
you are writing a book. He would introduce me
to him, at a party this evening. Then he said bring
Sandy as your guest. Doctor Kacey doesn't know
her or even seen her. I check with Sandy its a go
I tell the Doc its a go stop in about seven or so.

Well me and Miss Sandy showed up, the young Benton introduces me to the older Doc Kacey.
Sandy is playing it real nice, touching my arm
staying close like we are a couple. Well old Morris
gives me the low down on arsenic poison. I asks
do it resemble heart problems. Well folks he said
in some ways it does. Only muscle cramps and tingling of fingers and toes isn't one of the symptoms. I nods so if I don't use those two
in my book, Doctor would think heart problems.
Yes he says first year out of training Doctor should
know that. I says thanks I'll remember that. Might
even use it. He asks what have wrote. I said only
one Sir, book of Common Sense I says. Good evening I say. Skit as fast as I can to the food.

Sandy notice I dropped the Miss, hasn't had a drop
of any adult beverage, she a acting a might frisky.
Leans in close Sandy I says hope that ain't all actin.
You are heating the fires up dear. Common she
says you could take me home. I'd really heat up
the fires. I says we gots what we need. Lets head
out. On the way back I tells her, just want the Post
Docs opinion, before I go after White. May bring
the Post Commander along on it. See what happens. Well Folks we danced in the sheets that
night. Lan sakes been a long while. Sandy gots
out a book started written about how it was.
I looked said now was I really that good?
She smiled better Common much better. If you
like I'll change the name. That when its finished
no one will know. I says nope be fine, I says
never know you may come up along side a fire
out on a patrol. She laughed won't hurt none.
