Figured I should tell about the report on Betsy.
Well They talked to me first, I told them I met
her in dive gettin an ale. She had I know least one
Corn whisky maybe ale before that or a whisky.
She came off a little different, couldn't peg it down.
She just made me feel nervous some how.
They nodded and such, then they asked did Norm
do any thing to provoke this killin her self.
I don't really know I said being how I thought she
was bit touched or somethin. He just told her didn't want no part of gettin Married or children.
He walked away after, we both heard the hammer
lock back. We turned she fired. I said What The.
They didn't ask more questions, told me to step
out send Norm in. Well just doing what was right.
Reporting a dead Ranger, all we wanted was Rations and go out patrollin again.
When Norm comes out He looked flustered as
all get out. Shaking his head looking down,
Finally after few minutes, Common he says
lets draw rations get out of here. Thinkin Savannah might warmer down that way.
So we start our patrol heading south, took Norm
about a week to get close to normal again.
About the time we made it to Myrtles station.
Well my I've never been near the place low and
behold naked and half naked young things moving
about. My eyes wouldn't stay in my head! Kept
popping out has Pa would say, then quick slap to the back of my head.
Norm laughed love it here, can't believe its warm.
Didn't think they would be like that normally this
time year they got clothes on. Little to cold to run
around like they are. Warmer than normal.
Like that Common?
Lan sakes damn right I said, we stayin awhile?
Norm nods few days this is home, least I made it
home. Rather like it here, got a place I stay Common, older Shield takes care of it.
Nice older lady husband died gives her a place
she keeps it up for me.
Well I says climbin off my horse show the way sir.
Norm says lets put the horses up over at the Station check in. Only about a five minute walk.
My he had a nice place, only about hundred yards
from the Ocean Blue beach came up to the portico.
I asked about those hurricanes I heard about.
He said well if it blows away town puts it back
together for me. I just pay up later, try and patrol
close enough to get back couple times during the
season. Check up on it.
Norm shouted Nanc I am back you here?
Norm good to see ya, my she was one of the prettiest ladies I've seen in a spell. Norm said this
is Common on his second ride with me.
I said um real pleased to meet you Mam.
Got the please hon Nanc I'm not my mother.
Yesum I say. Suppose you two like some supper
maybe an ale or two. One of ya has to fork over
few trinkets. I reach in my purse ask will a brass button do? She says that do, I'll bring back quart
of ale, some potatoes and corn think Milly has a
few crab get those. I'll steam up supper real fast
for ya two.
Well that lady could cook now, my that ale was best I've had. Lan sake she about drove me crazy
all she had on was thing danglin over bottom parts. For an older lady my she looked good,
could cook too. That one was a keeper.
Norm smiled Common I am done for now about
tired. The hammock on the portico you sleep in it.
Unless Nanc invites you into her bed. Well I perked
up real fast I say good night Norm.
Being young and all not real familiar with how
ta swoon a lady into gettin invited to her bed.
Hell lets say only women I been with was Pleasantry ladies. Nanc sat next to me on the portico I was listenin to the surf and lookin
at the stars. She touched my hand Common
she says not tonight deary I'm a might tired
maybe tomorrow night we can share a bed.
Well I jumped a little in my chair, Yesum I'd like
that I truly would. She smiled said night Common.
I slept like a rock, next morning Norm was out
walking the beach when I woke. Tide was up
I just sat looked out sun peaking just above the water. My it was pretty. Could smell bacon cookin
She was humming while she cooked. Mornin
I say coffee made. She pointed poured myself
a cup. You need help? No she says go back outside
out of the way.
Well me and Norm packed up day later. Never did
get invited to her bed. We headed south Savannah way. I know nothing spectacular hey just wanted
ya to see Rangerin isn't all guts glamour and glory.
