"Legend has it.." A young boy starts, talking into a campfire. Other boys surround him, listening intently.
"Every night on Halloween, a portal opens on the tallest mountains. Monsters, demons and spirits crawl out, seeking respect from all the humans who laugh on their grave. Maybe they're here with us tonight..."

"It's not even Halloween!" One of the other boys roll his eyes, eating a cracker.

A low grumble comes from the fire as the floor shakes. Suddenly, the fire grows. Spreading over the grass and threatening to burn the boy's sneakers.

As the boys scream and back up, one of the many campers run into something that rattles and rots beneath his weight.

There's a low growl, almost inaudible.
Turning around, he's met with the stench of a rotting corpse, holding him tight. Rotting eyes and stinky flesh, the maggots crawl out of every hole as it opens its mouth.
The heat from the fire growing closer and hotter on his back, as he struggles from the zombie's grasp.

The zombie breathes out of its mouth, heaving and wheezing, allowing maggots and flies to escape it's mouth.
It let's go of the boy and starts to sink into the ground, almost like it's rotting legs couldn't support it anymore.
With a growl, the zombie is dragged into the soil. It clings to the ground, trying to grasp it, but it's weak fingers won't win against the damp soil.

And with a flash, the heat from the fire disappears and the rotting corpse is just a stench in the air. No evidence of the horrifying thing that happened that night. All of the boys huddle far from the fire, before disbursing to run off to their homes.

"Dude it's been like- hours. I doubt he's coming," The teen rolls her eyes, putting on her eyeliner. She looks intently in the mirror, trying to see what she's doing.
When she leans back from the mirror, content, her reflection doesn't follow.
Instead, it bangs on the glass, eyes turning into expressions of worry and horror.
The girl gasps, letting out a shrill scream as an arm manages to snake its way out of the mirror, reaching for her.
She backs up, shaking and trembling in fear.
But the reflection wasn't giving up. It continues to crawl out the mirror, pulling one arm out, then grasping the desk as it pulls the other out. It's long blonde hair falling over its eyes as it pulls its torso out.
Eventually, it climbs out the whole mirror, dragging its torso onto the carpet. The reflection had no legs. None at all. Instead, leaking path of black ooze where they should be.

It opens it's mouth, it's voice raspy and horse, like it hasn't been used in years, "Today's...not....yours," The words formed slowly, like it forgot how to use it's tongue.
The girl gathers up the courage to scream as the reflection lightly touches her arm. Her arm burned at the touch, like a fire was burning and spreading throughout her whole body.
Not figuratively.
Her body burned, melting her face and slowly ending up in a pile of ash. The reflection watches with no expression, as the girl screams and shouts.
The reflection watches as the fire spreads, not satisfied with the body. It rages onto her carpet then the wall.

Not in any hurry, the reflection crawls to the window. It gasps, snaps and wheezes as it drags itself. Not from the lack of breathable oxygen due to the smoke, but due to the rotting lungs and burning fire barely containable by the flesh and glass of a reflection.

Slowly, it crawls onto the windowsill and crawls onto the ground, watching as the fire rages on inside the house.

A satisfying sight. Breathtaking.

Going from door to door, the young boy dressed as a fox smiles happily.
He knocks on the next house door, smiling widely.
The door opens, only to reveal what looks like an oversized teddy bear. It had a pink fur and stuffing falling out of one ripped ear.
"Uhm.." The young boy was caught off guard, "Trick or treat..?"

The teddy bear rips opens its stitched lips, "....I love you..." It says, robotically. The recording breaking up and stopping between words, terrifying the young boy.
Green ooze pours out from its newly opened mouth, staining its fur. Slowly, the bear's legs managed to carry it out of the house, but it stumbles and trips.
"I love you...!" It repeats, the words forming easier and more harsh as it gets used to it's legs.

The boy nods, slowly starting to back up. He wasn't sure whether to scream for his mother, or run to the next house over.
The bear trips over the side walk, landing on its nubs for hands. It's head slowly looks up at the boy, staying on its fours. Stuffing and green ooze leaks from its mouth and it's ripped ear.
It's voice now comes out as a low rumble, "I...love you.." It growls, chasing the boy down the street.
The boy lets out a loud scream, tripping and stumbling under his legs.
Suddenly, as the adrenaline is quickly replaced with a burning pain in his legs, he trips over a crack in the street, landing harshly on the unforgiving concrete.

Slowly, the green ooze reaches the boy's back. The boy struggles as his limbs burn, unwilling to listen to his brain's commands. He closes his eyes, terrified of what happens next. And he had every right to be, as the bear looms over him.
The only thing left behind was the boy's Fox tail. Soaked in green, disgusting ooze.

Knocking on the sixteenth house, a kid dressed as a knight stands in the doorway, holding a carved pumpkin.

An old woman looms over him. She looks at him, then at the pumpkin filled with candy. Her body shakes and trembles, her muscles always so close to giving out.

"I don't have much...I ate some.." She mumbles, reaching into her house and bringing out a bag. It dripped a red substance, causing the boy to question what delicious snacks could be in there. The stench, though, wasn't exactly welcoming, but his curiosity bubbles over.

He looks into the bag, figuring out what the stench and dripping was, causing his heart to race, but he didn't have time to scream, as a fire, which was raging from house to house in the background.
He suddenly figured out why it was so hot in fall...
"What...?" The old lady asks, shoving the bag closer to him, "You don't want any?"
The bag shakes as well as the old lady, shaking harder and harder. Her grip on the cane tightened, as she felt the fire reach her back, but she wasn't too intent on turning around.
Slowly, the boy backs up, only able to point at the flames as he rushes off.
The fire consumes the old lady, tearing her gown and her skin.
She melts into the fire, but not completely.

She's left with a burning corpse as she gasps back to life. Eyes burned out of their sockets, charcoal bones, dry lips and a forever burning soul.
Slowly, she follows in the boy's path. No longer needing her cane as her muscles burned with a new fiery.

Slowly, the town succumbed to the madness. No normal humans left unturned, only to be left with a raging fire and unimaginable creatures.
Howls and groans to be shouted over the pop and crack of the fire that was untamable.
Their howls grow louder every passing year, only comprehensive to the souls who have taken hostage to it.
Even know, their horror reigns. And every Halloween, they grow louder. Loud enough to be heard through your headphones.
Loud enough to seep through your walls.
Loud enough to ooze through your windowsill.
Loud enough to only warn you once.

Happy Halloween! :3
