This beast however, was thought of being just a myth. Little did the townsfolk know that this was far from a fictional creature...

There was a wolf named Kai. Kai was owned by one of the richest men of the small town named Pinesburg, he was a fierce companion that would do anything for humans. On a foggy, gloomy day however, Kai's owner had gone hiking high into the mountains when the weak rope Kai was lead by snapped, leaving the wolf alone in the fog. Over time a lumberjack got caught in the lone wolf's den. Rumor has it that when the lumberjack was brutally killed, the wolf evolved gaining human traits.Some say they have seen a wolf-like humanoid howling at a full moon.

December 19, 2018

I woke up, almost in tears. I've had brutal nightmares for about a month now, all about the same thing, the wolf. Maybe it's all the stories my grandfather would tell me as a young girl or the fact that I couldn't stop thinking about it. Either way, I didn't like it. I wiped my tired eyes as my bedroom door was ripped open. I jumped at the over the top entrance my best friend/roommate had made. "Morning Sunshine!" She said stealing my warm blanket from me. "Kayla, why?" I asked staring at the time on my phone. She stared at me with a slightly annoyed look on her face as I yawned rubbing my eyes.

"Kristine! You said you would come with me to put up the flyers for the school dance!" I could hear the struggle in her whining voice as she tried to pull me off my bed. I could easily overpower her since she's not necessarily the strongest. I let go of the bed frame I was clinging to, she fell back from the sudden movement and lied on her back staring at the ceiling with defeat written on her face. " OK, now I'm up. Give me a minute to get dressed will ya?" I said rising from my bed and pulling her up and out the door. "Just make sure to wear the school's co-". She was cut off when I slammed the door in her face. I yawned one last time, accepting the fact that I was going to be busy today.

~ A few Hours later ~

Kayla and I approached the entrance of our high school carrying boxes full of flyers promoting the dance that was quickly nearing. Though I wasn't much of a dance kind of person and would rather stay home watching corny romance movies, I knew Kayla was going to make me go. She gave a quick glance my way and grinned. "Figure out who you wanna go with yet?" My eyebrows furrowed in the thought of it. "What are you talking about?". We walked up to a table in the main hall. She plopped her box of papers down and sat in one of the folding lawn chairs. "Kris, it's a dance. You go with a special someone to a dance." She explained laying her head in her hands as she rested her elbows on the table. I just shrugged it off  and dropped my box on the table and sat next to her.

~magical time skip~

After practically begging people to take our flyers we started walking home. At least we didn't really have to go to any actual classes. Kayla yawned loudly and stretched like she was just leisurely laying in bed, I tried not to watch her yawn since its contagious but didn't succeed. We both looked at each other for a moment, giggled a bit, and continued walking. "Ooooooooo! psst! hey hey Kris look, loooooooook!" Kayla grabbed and tugged on my elbow like a 7 year old. I tried to see what she was pointing at. "What?"  "THE DINER!!" I completely froze once I realized what she was gesturing to, in the distance I saw a small diner. Rumor's were spread about it being for werewolves once it first opened long ago. Kayla begged me to go but I never had the time. "C'mon, no excuses this time!" She said as she dragged me towards the building. I had on choice but to give in and soon enough, we were walking in the front doors of the place.
