"Nico? Are you okay?" Lydia asked, I lifted my head from my hands to look at her. She was leaning over the table to put her face near mine so she could whisper while the rest of the pack were absorbed in their own group conversation.
"Mmm," I hummed, "Yeah, I just had a really late night with studying for that damn Spanish test." I grumbled quietly as my head pulsed painfully and my stomach turned every few seconds.
"Well you look like total crap" I laughed, "Gee, thanks Lydia!"
"I'm just saying. I don't think anyone would stop you from going home if you asked," Lydia shrugged at me as she picked up her handbag. "Come on, we'll visit the nurse and I'll take you home - I only have free periods now anyway."
I let Lydia take my bag for me as I gave a half-hearted wave to the pack and only just grasped Isaac's promise of dropping by after school to check up on me, I followed Lydia down to the nurse's office.

"You're really pale, sweetie. I think it would be best if you took at least the rest of the day off. If you feel the same way tomorrow, which I'm sure you will, and you look any paler I'd get a parent to take you to the doctor's."

"Here you are," Lydia laid me down in my bed, I wrapped myself up in my sheets as she sat at the end of my bed, "Is there anything you need before I go?" She whispered as my eyes started to close. "Please don't leave - my parents won't be home tonight, they went away for the weekend this morning." I whispered.
"I'm right here if you need me," with that I fell asleep.
When I woke up I was covered in cold sweat and my heart feeling like it was trying to beat out of my chest - "Lydia?" I called out in a panic. "Lydia!" I called a little louder as I threw my bed sheets off my body and bolted to the bathroom where I kneeled over the toilet and proceeded to empty my stomach of all the food I had eaten in the last day.
"Nico, hey, it's okay. You're alright, I'm here, don't worry. I'm here, I've got you." Lydia spoke gently as I felt hands on my back and pulling my hair up away from my shoulders and I felt it being tied up.
When I finished throwing up I quickly flushed the toilet and slumped back against the bath tub, not making any effort to move again just yet as I felt like all the energy was just drained out of me.
"Feeling any better?" Lydia asked, I looked up at her to see she was wringing out a face cloth in the sink. She knelt down in front of me, bringing the cloth to my face she wiped it all over me and the cold cloth felt like heaven against my skin.
"A little, after that."
"Oh my God-" I cut myself off in disbelief as my eyes landed on the cupboard underneath the sink where my tampons are kept - my period is late!
"What's wrong?" Lydia asked worriedly as she pulled the cloth away from my face abruptly at my exclamation. "My- Isaac and I- Lydia, my period is a week late!" I panicked to the 'strawberry-blonde' in front of me.
Lydia's eyes widened at the implication lying in front of us, me, a possibly pregnant 17 year old near-graduate.
"You - um. You stay here, don't leave the bathroom, alright? I'll grab you a blanket and a glass of water."
Around an hour later Lydia returned and I was - as instructed - still in the bathroom, leaning against the bathtub, the blanket wrapped around my body like a cocoon to shield me from the cruel game God forced me into.
"I picked up a few different tests - nearly ran into some guy from school actually, that would have been embarrassing!" Lydia seemed to cringe outwardly at her word choice as my eyes flicked up to look at her. "Sorry, I didn't quite mean it like that-" I shook my head, effectively cutting off the rest of her sentence.
