I lay on the bed for a while just thinking.
After laying there for about ten minutes there's a knock on the door.
"Come in." I say tiredly. The door creaks open, but I don't feel like moving so I don't.
Someone walks over into my line of vision. I move my eyes over to look at them.
It's Conner.
I sit up.
"What do you want asshole?"
"Hey! That's no way to treat the future champion." He flexes his biceps which I gotta admit are nice but I don't tell him that.
"Mmmhmm I wouldn't be so cocky if I were you. I got muscles too." I flex to show him.
He scoffs.
"I wouldn't call those muscles. They're puny!"
I smirk at him.
"Well, why don't we find out who's stronger then?"
"Your on."
-----------
The guys are all seated around the table and as soon as they see us come around the corner they start cheering on Conner. I see money exchange hands and Tyler and Jonathan whisper to each other, smiling excitedly.
Rolling my eyes I sit on one of two open chairs. Conner sits on the other one, opposite of me.
He bangs his elbow down on the table and grins at me. "Are you ready to lose?"
I snort. "Whatever your just delaying for time because you don't wanna lose." I say pointing an accusing finger at him.
I lift my elbow up on the table.
He inhales. "First rule: Keep your wrist straight. Second: no cheating." He says somberly.
"That's it?" I glance at him warily. "I expected some crazy rules."
"Nah. Let's get this over with."
I grip his hand and stare at him evenly.
"Ready, set, go!" One of the boys shout. We both tense and I strain against his arm.
I realize he's much stronger than I thought, so I immediately know I'm gonna have to tire him out.
I slowly allow him to push my arm back until our arms are right in the middle. Then I just push to keep him there.
I see someone out of the corner of my eye looking at a stop watch.
"10 seconds!" They holler.
I grit my teeth and push a little more to tire him out faster. I can see he is already losing his energy.
"20 seconds!"
The boys start cheering him on. "Come on Conner, beat her already!"
"Its not that easy." He hisses through his teeth. I barely hear it over the commotion but grin none the less.
He glares at me and with a short burst of energy, shoves my arm back to the middle.
I'm growing bored, even though I am starting to tire, so I continually strain against his arm.
Some of the guys are screaming like a bunch of crazy fan girls so I hiss "Shut up!" and thankfully, they do.
Conner is done for, because I just continue to push his arm closer to the table and we both know it.
All of a sudden he gives up and I slam his arm down really hard. "Oh! Sorry!" I grin sheepishly at him as I draw my arm back to my body, embarrassed.
He just grins back and reaches across the table to shake my hand.
I reach across, grab it, then shake it. I become aware that it's dead silent. I glance around and notice everyone staring at me. I can't help it. A grin slides across my face and I lean back on my chair, crossing my arms over my chest smugly.
They all avoid my eyes. Finn rubs the back of his neck and Tyler twidles with his fingers.
I can't help it, I laugh at them, which seems to startle them. Standing up to shake my arm out, I turn to leave. "See you in the morning, girlies."
"Hey, good job." Finns says stepping toward me. The rest of the boys start to talk amongst themselves at my exit. "Conner always was a little vain."
"Hey!" Conner retorts from the group.
He smiles over his shoulder and I can't help but grin.
"Ah, it was nothing." I say jokingly. Finn gives me a confused look. I lean and whisper seriously. "Not really, but don't tell him I said that."
He smirks. "Your secrets safe with me."
The boys swarm around Conner bombarding him with questions and yelling at him so I turn away and quietly go up the steps, happy with my accomplishment. Angel appears from somewhere and follows me back to my room silently.
I swear she travels to different dimensions sometimes.
Opening my door I stop, my hand still resting on the handle and take a deep breath. I walk to my bed and flop on it backwards. Angel hops up beside me as I study my ceiling while she settles down next to me.
My eyelids feel heavy and I allow myself to drift off.
---------
Something bites my ear. I groan and swipe at it blindly, rolling onto my side, away from it. It bites me again and I sit up angrily.
Angel settles on her butt and begins to wash herself clearly not the culprit.
I glare at her, then realize I can barely see her in the gloom. Glancing out my window, I see it's gray but the sun hasn't shown it's face yet.
I groan then push Angel off the bed before falling back onto it.
She jumps up and lands lightly on my stomach, I grunt when she lands. Purring, she head butts my face and rubs against it.
"Angel go away! I'm trying to sleep! I'll feed you later." I mumble at her angrily. She meows, which has me flying back into a sitting position. Angel never meows.
The only time she has meowed was when there was a unknown cat outside the window back home and the other time is when I left the stove on and some bread caught on fire.
Both very important events.
Seeing that she has my attention, she jumps back off and heads over to the door, then scratches at it.
I slide off the bed and open the door for her. She shoots out at a million miles an hour. Bewildered, I poke my head out and glance down the hall. At the end she's waiting, looking back at me. She meows again.
Then she disappears down the stairs.
I know something's up, so I jog down the hall after her. Something moves on my right and pain explodes in the right side of my body. I stumble back against the wall and glare daggers at whoever crashed into me.
Finn stands in his doorway rubbing his head. "What are you doing?!" I hiss at him.
He glances down at me, glaring. "I was going to go the bathroom. What are you doing up?" He says accusingly.
"I'm following my cat. She woke me up." I spin around on my heel and head down the stairs after her, not waiting for his response.
At the bottom, I glance around for her but she's already at my feet meowing again before she dashes away toward the living room.
I quickly follow her. She stops abruptly at the vent. The world tilts and I stumble toward the wall. I blink to try to clear my vision. A blurry figure approaches me and says something.
"What? I can't hear you." I giggle uncontrollably and almost fall over again but somebody catches me.
The figure says something but I can't hear so I just laugh and close my eyes.
