Sam was choking. Michael's hand - Dean's hand - was wrapped tight around his throat.
"Is this how you wanted to go?" Michael said calmly. He wasn't threatened by anything. Cas had been fighting with one of those white-eyed beasts for an hour now.
Michael had him in his grip for at least fifteen minutes, and Sam was choking for about five. "He's watching, you know?" Michael smiled. "He's seeing his baby brother suffer, and soon, he's gonna see you die."
Sam tried to grasp any last breath he could get. "D-Dean," he breathed out.
He started to black out when he suddenly felt a rush of oxygen flow through his lungs. Michael dropped him to the floor and turned around to the large metal door that swung against the wall with a loud bang.
The chiven was distracted too, and Cas used the chance to push his angel blade through the beast. It dropped dead next to him.
"So close," Michael sighed. He tilted his head when he saw the other archangel. "I thought I had taken care of you already." He lifted the golden archangel blade, and so did the Trickster.
"Long time, no see," he replied.
And then everything happened fairly quick. Serah and Jack took care of Sam, Adam and Samandriel helped Cass.
And then he heard yelling.
In the middle of the room, Michael was lying on the ground, one archangel blade was digging into Gabriel's torso, the other hovered over Michael's chest. "If you stab me, Dean Winchester dies," Michael spat out.
Gabriel smirked as the blade dig deeper into his torso. "I couldn't care less."
Adam huffed. "Gabriel!"
The archangel looked up, they covered his eyes, like Serah, Jack, Cas and Samandriel did.
Adam threw a bottle on the ground. It looked like a Molotov cocktail, but all he could see was a bright white light. A second later, the unbroken glass was filled with a white... something... The bottle was shaking. Michael was in there.
Sam watched the others. "Did we... Did we win?"
Gabriel chuckled as he watched the bottle, he sunk down next to it, blade still in his torso. "Take that, you asshole." He coughed. In fact, he coughed blood onto the floor.
Sam got up from the floor and went over to the bleeding archangel. "Gabriel, are you okay?"
Gabriel scoffed. "We won. You have Dean back. That's all that matters."
Sam grabbed the blade and attempted to pull it out. Gabriel whined. It was too deep. It was too late.
"Finish it, Sam."
Sam swallowed hard. "Gabriel no. No way. You just got back."
"I'm past saving, " he replied, putting his hands onto Sam's. "It was the moment I first talked to you... Seems to be a running theme with you..." He chuckled softly, but sufferingly.
"Yeah, maybe I tried to kill you when we first met but-"
"Oh no..." Gabriel clenched his hands tighter. "We first met 17 years ago..."
Sam shook his head. "What the hell are you-..." He looked over his shoulder over to Serah. "Katherine Fairchild."
Gabriel smiled. "She was a good girl... She's married now."
"Serah is my daughter?" Sam bit his lip.
Gabriel slowly pushed the blade a little bit deeper, urging Sam to finish it. "I'm sure you will take good care of her." Gabriel's eyes filled with tears. "I know you will."
Sam shook his head again and knelt down closer to him. "Gabriel, don't talk like that."
Gabriel smiled faintly. "It's time."
Sam teared up now as well. "Gabriel, I need you! I-... I love you."
"I kn-..." Gabriel closed his eyes and sighed. "I'm sorry, Sam."
Tears were streaming down Sam's face as he took a deep breath and pressed his lips against the archangels. Gabriel's weak grip tightened around Sam's shoulders as Sam pushed the blade in.
A bright white light blinded him, a loud scream. And then it was silent.
"Gabriel?" Sam shook on the Trickster's shoulders. "Gabriel!" He started crying, shaking him more violently.
Serah pulled Sam away. "No!" he screamed. Serah wrapped her arms around him, his tears were soaking in her hoodie.
It was done. They had won. But at what cost?
