Alfie brushed the hair of the Nephilim. "Don't say it like that," he whispered, his chin resting on Serah's shoulder, her tears soaking his shirt wet.

"Its true, Alfie," she cried. "He is dead."

"We had that before," Adam said. He put his hand on her shoulder. "Wasn't he dead like ten years ago?"

"He's right," Sam reinforced and leaned over to the table. "Gabriel is the Trickster. He's most likely in Monte Carlo, enjoying his life with gambling and porn stars." His expression shifted from soft and comforting to bitter, just for a split-second, just long enough for Serah to notice.

"I don't think that makes it better," Adam mumbled. "Well, if Gabriel isn't here, let's find your other parent."

The younger man, who introduced himself as Jack, shook his head. "It's impossible. Bearing a Nephilim-"

"Gabriel did."

Everyone watched Alfie. He cleared his throat. "Gabriel possessed a female vessel. He was the one that gave birth."

Sam rubbed the back of his neck. "That's... Interesting."

"Dean would probably have some inappropriate comment to add," Castiel said, his head hanging down.

Serah didn't know who Dean was, but everyone else in the room seemed to do.

"Where is he, anyway?" Adam asked.

Sam stayed quiet for a moment. "He... He said 'Yes'."

Adam straightened up. "It can't be. Michael is firmly locked in the Cage."

"Our Michael is," Sam replied. "Look, it's a long story. Children are in the room..."

Alfie wrapped his arms around Serah tighter, he pulled her almost entirely on his lap. "You can tell us later."

Serah barely knew Alfie and Adam. They just showed up at her doorstep and told her that she's gonna meet her mom-now-dad-now-dead. Yet, Adam and Alfie felt like big brothers to her already, just by the way they acted.

"Serah!"

The girl flinched and looked around to find the source of the voice. It was Adam, waving his hand in front of her face.

"I'm sorry," Serah mumbled. "I didn't listen."

Sam smiled a little. "Don't worry. We were wondering if you'd like to go with Jack..." He pointed next to himself. "And he could show you where you can stay. I assume you're staying?"

"Yeah," Adam replied. "If you don't mind we'd stay here 'till we found something on our own. I'd like to keep an eye on her."

Serah got up from her chair. "Sounds alright," she said. "I and... Jack, we're gonna go. And you can talk about whatever we're not allowed to hear."

Jack smiled softly and got up, as well. "I'll show you," he said and walked into the hallway, followed by Serah.

"So," she said, catching up with him. "You're a Nephilim, too?"

Jack nodded. "Yes, I mean, basically. So we are basically cousins." He smiled.

"Who's your angelic parent?" Serah asked.

Jack stayed silent as he opened the door. "This room isn't taken yet. There isn't much but maybe we can gather some more furniture."

In the room, there was only a bed and a small closet. Serah didn't feel like she was in the position to complain. She just came here, she was just a guest. "Thanks," she simply said, sitting at the foot end of the bed. Jack sat down next to her.

"I'm really sorry for what happened to your father." He put a hand on Serah's shoulder.

"I don't know," Serah replied, stripping off her shoes and pulled her knees close to her chest. "I guess I just don't know him enough to be attached to him. I'm still sad, though."

"I didn't know my parents well, either." Jack sighed lightly.

Serah leaned on his shoulder. "You said if Gabriel was my dad, we couldn't find my mother."

"Noone survives giving birth to a Nephilim. Except for archangels, apparently. I didn't know Gabriel that well, but I am sure he would have cared for you."

Their conversation was interrupted by a knocking on the door, Sam opened it and entered. "Hey," he said. "Cass and I are out. We got lead on Dean."

Jack suddenly rose. "I'm going with you," he said determinedly.

"Jack no," Sam replied, pushing Jack down on the bed again. "We won't get you in danger. You should stay with Serah."

"I can come with you." Serah cleared her throat. "I... I might be useful."

Sam shook his head. "I don't wanna get you in danger, either."

"You won't!" She got up, she was an entire head shorter than him so she had to look up. "Ariel told me Nephilim are more powerful than their angelic parent. If my parent is an archangel, I should be more powerful than him."

"That didn't work once, not gonna screw this up twice. You stay."
