"What happened?"
Sherry felt a chill go down her back as Aiden asked her that question. She reluctantly answered and watched as his expression went from serious to pissed the hell off. She got a little scared as Aiden gently placed his hand on her eyepatch. He noticed and used his other hand on her cheek.
"It's ok. I won't hurt you...I promise," he whispered as he gave her a soft smile. She felt better and let him examine the stab wound. He healed the wound as he stared in concern at Sherry.
Why would her own sister do this to her, he thought as the wound finished healing. Sherry rubbed her eyelid seeing as she had it closed for a while.
"I wasn't able to heal it all the way so your eye may be different than it used to be. Not sure how though. Could be the size, shape, or-," he stopped explaining just as she opened her eye.
"The...color," he finished. Sherry looked at him, a little confused.
"Did the color change," Sherry asked, "If so, what color is my eye now?"
"It's blue now," he answered.
"Welp. Looks like I'm gonna have to keep this on for a bit," she sighed as Sherry put the eyepatch back on, "what time is it?"
"2:47 p.m.," Aiden said as he checked his watch.
"Shoot...my parents are probably looking for me," Sherry whispered loud enough for Aiden and the crow to hear.
"When exactly did you run off," the crow asked.
"5 hours ago," she replied, "I was probably asleep for about 3 to 4 hours."
"We should get you home," Aiden said as he stood up. Then he held out his hand to help Sherry up.
"Yeah. Guess so," she sighed as she grabbed his hand and stood. The crow guided them back to the tunnel and back to the garden.
"This is a nice place," Aiden said while looking at the flowers.
"Heh. Yeah, I like it out here," Sherry said. The walked up to the backyard porch and saw Sherry's parents talking to each other looking very stressed out.
"We checked the attic, basement, everywhere! Where is she? Oh. I hope she didn't run away," her mom cried.
"Maybe she's just hiding really well," her father said, trying to calm his wife down.
"Hello ma'am. You looking for her," Aiden asked casually as they walked a little closer. Her parents looked over to them.
"Sherylin! Are you ok?! Where did you run off to?! We were so worried," the mother exclaimed as she hugged her daughter.
"Thanks for bringing her back. I didn't want to deal with her mother if she was to start crying," the father whispered to Aiden.
"Mom...you're squeezing me. I can't breathe," Sherry choked.
"Oh! Sorry sweetie," her mom apologized as she let go. Her father glanced at Aiden for a second and relized something.
Oh sh!t, that kid's parents run the Neptune Defense Headquarters, he thought as he started to panic, hoping that this kid wouldn't go running of and telling his parents about some girl with terrible parents and a crappy sister who stabbed her in the eye. Then he realized that Sherry wasn't hiding her eye with her hair this time.
"How's your eye doing, Sherylin," her father asked as he rubbed his daughter's cheek. Both parents stared as she removed the patch and opened her eye.
