As Sherry opened her eye, Aiden could see a figure looking at them through the window. It was Violet...but something seemed off. She didn't look like how Sherry had described her. Violet was always cheery and social around guests, hiding how cruel she was to Sherry, but Violet just glared at her sister. This concerned Aiden, so he slightly tugged at Sherry's sleeve.
"Hey, that's Violet, right," Aiden asked, "she looks really angry." Sherry looked over at Violet and instantly knew what that look meant. It meant that Violet was going to torture her. Aiden watched as Sherry's face changed from normal to scared for her life.
"Sherry. What does that look mean," Aiden whispered. No response. All she did was keep eye contact with Violet, trembling. Her parents noticed the shaking, but when they looked at Violet, she had started to walk away so that they couldn't see her face.
"Sherylin. Sweetie, what happened," her mom asked, now completely concerned for her daughter.
"...bats...," Sherry whispered, "...in the basement..." Aiden realized what she was trying to say.
"Don't let Violet touch her," Aiden warned.
"What? Why," her dad said confused.
"She's going to throw Sherry in the basement and beat her with a baseball bat," Aiden said as both her parents looked completely shocked.
"I don't think Violet would go that far," her mother said.
"Why not? She's already stabbed Sherry, hasn't she," he replied, "beating her with a bat is basically her downgrading." Her parents thought about it. Then her father went up to Aiden.
"I'm not sure if we can protect her by ourselves," her father admitted, "can she stay with you for a few days? Just until we're sure she can be safe around Violet?" Aiden nodded and looked over at Sherry who was still watching the window. He gently grabbed her shoulder. She looked like she was about to break into tears as she made eye contact with Aiden. He pulled her into a hug and whispered something to her.
"You're going to be ok," he reassured her. Then he gave her a soft smile as he said....
"I'm here for you."
