Draco Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson

I silently dragged my feet to the cheering table of green-robed people. I sat down randomly. I didn't dare look at the Weasley's at the Gryffindor Table.

A  tall man with a crooked nose, waist - length white hair and beard, and half-moon spectacles rose from the staff table. I guessed he was Dumbledore, he had the sort of Headmaster demeanor.

"Welcome!" said Dumbledore, "Welcome to another year at Hogwarts! I have a few things to say to you all, and as one of them is very serious, I think it best to get it our of the way before you become befuddled by our excellent feast," he cleared his throat and continued, "As you will all be aware after their search of the Hogwarts Express, our school is presently playing host to some of the dementors of Azkaban, who are here on Ministry of Magic business." He paused and it hit me. That's what caused the train to stop. BLOODY DEMENTORS. This should be fun. Those jerks of creatures roam around sucking out happiness. He then continued.

"They are stationed at every entrance to the grounds and while they are with us, I must make it plain that nobody leaves the school without permission. Dementors are not fooled by tricks or disguises -- or even Invisibility Cloaks," I smirked a bit, remembering the stories Ron's told me of all the adventures He, Harry, and Hermione had been part of under the Invisibility Cloak Harry had inherited from his father, and I hoped I would be part of one them. But NOPE. DEMENTORS WERE A GOOD IDEA.

"It is not in the nature of a dementor to understand pleading or excuses. I therefore warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you. I look to the prefects, and our new Head Boy and Girl, to make sure that no student runs afoul of the dementors." I glanced at the Gryffindor table and saw Percy puffing out his chest.

"What a dork." I mumbled.

"On a happier note," Dumbledore continued, "I am pleased to welcome two new teachers to our ranks this year. First Professor Lupin, who has kindly consented to fill the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher." not many people clapped, I saw Harry, Ron, and Hermione clapping hard so I did too. Professor Lupin looked shabby next to the other teachers. His robes were not only torn and aged, but his face was scarred and his hair was beginning to turn grey even though he still looked quite young. "As to our second new appointment," Dumbledore continued, "Well I am sorry to tell you that Professor Kettleburn, our Care of Magical Creatures teacher, retired at the end of last year in order to enjoy more time with his remaining limbs. However, I am delighted to say that his place will be filled by none other than Rubeus Hagrid, who has agreed to take on his  teaching job in addition to his gamekeeping duties."

The Gryffindors clapped loud. I was one of the few at my table to cheer. I had heard about Hagrid over the Summer and he seemed great, and when I sat with him on the boats, he was extremely welcoming.

"Well, I think that's everything of importance, let the feast begin!" Dumbledore exclaimed.

At that moment, the golden plates and goblets before us filled with an immense amount of food. I quickly snatched anything in reach. I was still sad but, I mean, FOOD amirite? As I stuffed food violently into my mouth, I felt a soft tap on my shoulder. I turned to face the same boy that toppled onto me. He had blue eyes and platinum blonde hair. I raised my eyebrows in response.

"Are you Y/n Devons?" he asked, his eyebrows furrowed. I nodded.

"Draco Malfoy." he said sticking out his hand. So this was the boy that was always sticking his head into Ron and the other two's business? A girl stuck her head out from behind him. She gave me glare. She had short dark hair and a pug - like face. She cleared her throat and looked at the blonde with a dreamy expression.

"Oh and this is Pansy Parkinson, she's --" Draco Malfoy said,

"His girlfriend." Parkinson interrupted.

"Actually no, she's a family friend I guess you could say." the blonde said with a pained expression. She looked up at him with sad eyes. "Well it's nice to have another witch with a great  pure-blood ancestry in Slytherin, but is it true you're living with the Weasleys?"

I looked at him with a slight glare.

"Yes I am, and they're amazing." I said scooping up more food.

"They're bloodtraitors." Malfoy said.

"Well then I'm a bloodtraitor too." I said simply. He looked at me in awe but said nothing.

The feast finished and our Prefect lead us to our dorms. Her name was Heather Chandler. She was really pretty. She had blonde hair that curled into loose ringlets and she wore a red scrunchie. She lead us to a wall and told muttered something. The wall then opened and she said that the password was the word 'pureblood'. I scoffed at that. We made our way inside the Common Room. It was very dark. I learned it was underground. It had rough stone walls and ceiling from which, round greenish lamps hung on chains. A fire was crackling under an elaborately carved mantelpiece.

"Alright, boys to the left and girls to the right, your names will be on a sign near the doors." announced Heather. We all trailed up the stairs. I glanced to my left and saw the same Asian boy that yelled for Newt on the train. So he was in Slytherin too, huh? I walked up the stairs and looked for my name. Found it. I looked at the names and saw that I would be sharing with three girls. I opened the door and found the same girl with dark short hair sprawled on a bed. Another girl who was reading a book, had aquamarine eyes and long wavy hair that progressed from blonde to pink to purple in an ombre. The last and third girl, had pale skin and light pink hair that was up to her shoulders and was working on some type of drawing. When I walked in they all looked up at me. The girl with long hair spoke up.

"Hi! You must be Y/n Devons! I'm Lacey!" She said standing up and started shaking my hand. She was extremely nice and energetic and had a big smile on her face. This was a Slytherin? From what Ron's told me, Slytherin's were supposed to be mean and edgy, this wasn't expected.

"Hi, I'm Tai." said the pink-haired girl with a small smile.

"Nice to meet you." I said a bit awkwardly.

"Pansy! Come and say hi!" demanded Lacey. Pansy Parkinson merely rolled her eyes and laid on her bed once more.

"Never mind her." Lacey said glumly.

"We better get to sleep, Lace." said Tai as she crossed her arms.

"Yeah thats true. Well it was nice meeting you, Y/n!"

"You too." I smiled a bit as I said this.

I got dressed and climbed into bed. As I pulled the covers over me, I looked around at the sleeping girls. I wondered if the Weasley's would still accept me, they've got to right? I mean, they all liked me didn't they? Is the House I was sorted into gonna change that? Will Lacey, Tai and even Pansy be friends with me? Probably not Pansy. Will I even have friends? Will that Malfoy pick on me too after what I said to him? My thoughts raced as I drifted into a dreamless sleep, awaiting what was to happen the next day.
