PREETA IS shuffling through the drawers, biting her nails. Her soft curls, fall on her shoulders and she tuck them behind her ear. It is eight thirty and karan still didn't return to their dorm. Both karan and preeta were doing their final year of buisness in the harvardschool of buisness. They met one year ago ― Both Karan and preeta were from well-known families and their families know each other from their childhood. Today is the last day in the school and their graduation just happened in the morning and their parents flew back after the graduation. They wanted to stay back and enjoy the last day in the school.

Preeta found the lighter, few rose scented candles. She sighed and placed the six candles on the table and lit them up; three candles in their room, one in kitchen and the other two in the living room. They had given a special room by the administration. Luckily, the school have a rule, that different genders can share a room, together. Preeta and Karan fought all the way through the first semester, and like they say ― opposites attract.

They started dating through the semester holidays. Together, they went to their homes, from the school through their private jet. Preeta and Karan were loyal to each other and never lied to each other at any matter of time. Preeta had this pit in her stomach from the noon, thinking something bad is about to happen. She shoo the thoughts and continued arranging the rose petals in the living room. Karan love roses.

"I swear to god, this guy is such an pain in the ass!" She exclaimed and stumbled over a certain object in their room and fell forward. A second away from falling on the ground and breaking her limbs and hurting her stomach. She was way to protective of her stomach. She hurried to the washroom; to have a quick shower.

She stripped the clothes from her and stepped into the hot shower and enjoyed the sensation of hot droplets fall on her soft skin. She rubbed her green tea scrub with the help of a loofah. She stood firmly in the hot shower, until the stress, dirt from her body is gone. She finally turn off the knob of the shower and wrapped a towel around her body and stepped into her room. Eight fifty-five.

She heaved a long sigh and put on her clothes. She sat in front of the mirror and combed her hair and smiled at herself. Her beautiful, curly, raven hair was till her shoulders. Her lob cut gives a pretty shape to her oval shaped face. She applied moisturiser and lip balm. She was ready. Ready to reveal ― whatever she was hiding. She got up from the chair and went to kitchen.

She arranged the dishes on the dining table and lit a candle and placed it in the middle of the table. She made his favourites. White sauce pasta, aloo paratha, chicken soup and a dessert; rasagulla. She tapped her foot impatiently and walked forth and back. Her breathe stuck, when she heard the door's creaking sound. She took few deep breaths before walking towards Karan.

"Hi love," Karan kissed her forehead and wrapped arms around her shoulders, "Nice odour in the dorm. Anything special?"

She smiled brightly at him. "Nothing, Karan. Just felt like decorating our dorm. Where were you? It's nine!"

Karan's expression changed, he shifted uncomfortably in his position and Preeta's brow raised. "Uh, I was out with guys, love," Preeta smiled. "We were just hanging oout as we won't hangout with each other again, isn't it? I don't know where these assholes will go after this."

Preeta nodded. "Okay, okay. Now go and get freshen up ― I've something to tell you." She nudged him and he nodded, his fingers running, through his dishelved hair.

"I've something to tell you, too, Arora." He said with a hint of emotion in his voice ― the pit in her stomach, forming yet again. She nodded, before turning to the tv, not before karan pulled her into his embrace. He placed a small kiss on her lips and pulled away, giving 'the karan luthra' smile. She felt something odd in their kiss. It wasn't their usual type of kiss. She felt this is their final kiss and final time with each other.

After fifteen minutes, Karan came from the washroom afetr taking a shower. He was wiping his wet, damp hair with a white towel and he threw the towel across the room and it fell on the sofa. Preeta huffed before getting up from her place ― took the towel and put it in their room. Both sat on the dining table. Preeta served pasta first and karan took a bite. He moaned as he ate a bite of pasta and preeta smiled.

"Damm, I love this!" He said, giving her a wink. She forced a smile and took a bite from her pasta. The air was filled so much tension, it ached preeta's heart. "So, what's that ― you wanted to tell me?"

She bit her lip, before gulping down a whole glass of white wine. "No, it's not important, Karan. You go on." He nodded and kept down his fork, gulping his wine.

"Let's do this one thing ― let's eat first and then talk about our things. Okay?" Karan said and preeta nodded, before serving other dishes.

Both sat in the sofa comfortably, across each other. They didn't want to sit together today. Karan sat on his knees in front of preeta, before speaking. "Pree, I'm sorry for this doing this. I'm sorry, I had to follow this dare. It was all dare ― to make you fall in love with me and break up with you on the day of graduation. I couldn't do it in the morning, 'cause I don't want to loose that million dollar smile on your lips and For―"

Preeta's slap trailed karan's words. He knew this would happen but he didn't say a word. "Shut up, Karan luthra! Just shut up! You don't have a right to call me pree! I hate you so much! I took you as my world, Karan. I don't have words to say, Karan. Shame on you and before I burst out
― get out of the dorm. Get out!"

Preeta controlled her tears and Karan didn't say a word. He couldn't and that hurt preeta's heart. She didn't expect this from karan. Without a word, he left, slamming the door behind him. Tears started to roll down her cheeks as she plopped down on the floor and cried until she was left with nothing, but emptiness.
