I woke the next morning to my phone ringing. I prayed it would just stop as I kept my eyes closed, but no such luck.
I opened my eyes, a huge headache emerging, as I checked the phone. It was Anthony calling.
I groaned, not ready to deal with this right now. But, it had to be done.
I answered the call, making sure to keep my voice low so Noah wouldn't wake up.
"Hello?" I croaked out.
"Blake," He said. "Hi."
"Hi?" I asked, wondering why he was calling me at 8 in the morning.
"Blake, can you come outside? We need to talk." He said.
I got out of bed, slowly. "You're outside my house?" I asked, walking over to the window.
I saw Anthony leaning up against his car in my driveway.
"Yea, I just need to talk to you." He insisted.
I groaned. I looked over at Noah who was still blissfully asleep.
I rubbed my tired eyes. "Um, Okay. I'll be down in a minute." I hung up the phone and walked over to my closet, grabbing a pair of shorts and a hoodie.
I threw them on and exited my room, quietly.
I walked down the stairs, clutching my achey body. Every step hurt my head like crazy.
I walked over to my front door to see Anthony standing on the other side of it.
I took a deep breath in and opened it.
"Hi." He said, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Hi, Anthony." I said, wrapping my arms around myself.
"So, about yesterday at school," He sighed. "I shouldn't of taken that out on you."
"Yeah, you shouldn't of." I said, finally taking up for myself.
He seemed taken aback by my comment.
"I really am sorry," He said. "Can we go up to your room or something?" He asked, attempting to get past me.
"No." I said, blocking him.
"Why not?" He scoffed.
"Noah's sleeping in there." I said.
It was no secret that Noah did that quite often. But it was also no secret that Anthony hated it, even though he knew there was never anything going on between us.
He scoffed and raised his eyebrow.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" He asked, in a quiet, gruff voice. "We have one minor disagreement and you sleep with him?" He said, getting in my face.
"He's my best friend, Anthony. All we did was sleep." I said, scared of his anger.
"Oh, that's fucking rich." He said, spitting in my face.
"Anthony, just leave." I insisted.
"No, its bullshit! I tell you I don't like that you guys sleep in the same bed and you just do it anyway!" He threw his hands in the air.
"Noah's my best friend, you can't expect me to just change our whole friendship just because you're jealous." I said back.
"Dude, just go."
I whip my head around to see an angry Noah, coming up behind me.
"So he's your little bodyguard now?" Anthony scoffed.
"Yup." Noah said. "Now leave." He growled.
"Whatever, I don't need this." Anthony said, backing up. "The only reason we were together was because you put out." He shrugged, nonchalantly. "But don't worry about it, because you're not good anyway."
I knew that he was just mad and thats why he said those stupid things, but tears still threatened to spill.
"Just stop now before you say something you regret." Noah threatened, stepping in front of me.
Anthony laughed dryly and got back into his car.
I stood there, shocked and confused.
Was that all I was to him? An easy lay?
I stood there, holding my body, looking at the ground.
Noah stood in front of me until Anthony drove off, giving him an intimidating glare. Once he was gone, Noah turned around to face me.
He saw the tears falling down my cheeks and pushed us inside, closing the door. He wrapped his big arms around me, holding me.
"You know, none of thats true." He whispered.
"How do you know?" I asked, crying into his chest.
"I know you better than anyone, B. You're not just some slut, okay?" He said, hugging me tighter. "You of all people, don't deserve that." He sighed, stroking my back.
"Maybe I do." I shrugged.
He let go of my back and made me face him but holding onto my shoulders.
He sighed and wiped away the tears that were staining my cheek. "You told me not to keep giving him chances." I said, looking at the ground.
"I did." He said. "But you really liked him, that doesnt make it your fault. He's the asshole here, not you."
I wiped my wet cheek and forced a small smile.
Noah turned me around and put his arm around my shoulder, walking us toward the stairs. "Ya know, I don't really remember watching the Little Mermaid last night." He shot me a small smile.
I laughed and sniffled.
Noah is the guy that always could make me feel better no matter what. Thats what I love about him.
