Chapter 15

This meme doesn't fit the mood of the chapter but I couldn't help it.

Toothless's P.O.V.

"What're you doing?" Astrid asks, tension in her voice like a glass of water on the verge of overflowing. I hear the battle she's having with herself. It's taking everything she has to keep her bitch self at bay so she can keep up the sweet and innocent act. It's subtle, but I can hear how badly she wants to bash my head in.

I know this is my one and only chance. There are a million different ways for this to go wrong and only a few for it to go right. This has to go right.

I laugh and rest my head on Hiccup's shoulder so that I'm turned away from Astrid. I lean in towards his ear as naturally as I can.

"Stay quiet. I swear it'll make sense soon."
I whisper in his ear. I lift my head up and smirk at Astrid. Putting my arm around Hiccups waist, I pull him to my side. I hear Hiccup let out a tiny gasp of surprise and I just hope to anything and everything that he listens to me. The air leaves my lungs in erratic breaths as my entire body shakes from anxiety and fear but all I can do is just hold Hiccup to my side and know I have to keep my nerve for him. Still wearing a smirk on my lips, I turn to Astrid.

"What do you think is going on here? Take a hint. It's not even a hint, it's a big ass sign that says "fuck off". I told Hiccup exactly how I feel and he chose me. He's been interested in me ever since I turned into a human but didn't want to say anything because he didn't know how I felt. How could you not notice as he slowly lost interest in you? And you call him naive? Oh how much I wish I would of told him sooner so we could of been together. Dealing with you was hard, but I always knew he would choose me over some skank." I say in that same tone that she always uses with me. The same way she would always speak to me as she told me I was worthless while she drove her foot into my rib cage. I feel Hiccup move at my side so I look down to see him open his mouth like he is about to say something which told me I had to hurry this up. I look back up at Astrid and she had a blank look on her face like she was trying to process everything that had just happened. She clenches her fists into tight balls and looks at me. I could tell, one more drop of water, and she'd overflow.

"Scram bitch, you're not needed here anymore." I snear. Her eyes narrow and she practically growls before lunging at me. I push Hiccup out of the way before her body collides with mine making us both crash to the ground. She gets on top of my waist and I focus on protecting myself as her punches rain down on me. Hiccup runs over to Astrid and grabs her in an attempt to pry her off of me. He somehow gets her to let go and turns her to himself.

"Astrid, c-" Hiccup starts and I squeeze my eyes shut, knowing that he's going to explain everything to her and say I'm lying. No one would go this far just on trust. This stupid plan, if you could even call it that, failed just like I knew it would. I had really screwed myself now. Everything I had left was about to crumble before me. I sit there, in the darkness of my head, waiting for the words to leave his lips but instead I hear a punch, and then another.

My eyes shoot open to see Astrid on top of Hiccup, letting him have it. I rush over to them but before I could reach them, some random resident of the village had already pulled her off of him. This villager was a lot bigger and buffer then us and Astrid couldn't do anything to resist his grip. She stops struggling and turns to Hiccup.

"So you're leaving me for a fucking dog? Well, how does it feel to know that for the past 4 months, I've been beating that mutt until he was a pile of swollen and bruised flesh? As I'd walk away he'd whimper your name even though you weren't there. You were too stupid to realize what I was doing. Some good friend you are. Toothless has been in agonizing pain every day but you didn't blink an eye. You wouldn't of been able to figure it out even if you were trying, which you weren't. You just kept living your happy life with me. How can you even look at him and say you love him when you would say the same to me after I had just got done penetrating his skin with a knife? How long will it take him to be comfortable around you after I've ingrained deep inside him that anything that has to do with you ends in pain? Will you be able to have sex with him on the same bed you fucked me on while staring at all the scars I've given him?" Astrid gets done with her rant and stands there panting, still being restrained by the villager.
