I have you.

"next, is our very own gryffindor house quidditch team seeker, who was asked to play, professionally, by the holyhead harpies, upon her graduation, rose evans." was called by professor dumbledore, rose walked across the newly constructed stage, gripped the parchment which was tied together with a purple ribbon from the man's hand, shook dumbledore's other one, and walked across the remaining stage with a large smile gracing her features.

more students came and went, then "and now our head boy, captain of the gryffindor house quidditch team, and beginning his auror training come september, james potter." rose clapped along with everyone, glowing with pride.

as james walked to dumbledore, he pointed and winked at rose with a goofy smile, causing rose to flush red and look down, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

after the ceremony, the whole lot of seventh years took a trip down memory lane, and walked through the castle. pointing at different locations and spouting off memories.

"that's where i cursed severus snape for he first time." rose said, hand entwined with james' as she used her free one to point to a place by the library.

james laughed and started pulling her toward the staircase, "c'mon, i wanna show you something."

"can we go talk to my family first?" rose cheekily grinned at james. upon noticing his apprehensive look, she rolled her eyes and said, "please, james? i really want them to meet you." a pouting expression took over rose's features, she knew james couldn't say no to her puppy dog eyes. and so, james reluctantly, the couple started making their way toward the evans family.

lily was immersed in a conversation with their parents, the married couple beaming with pride. petunia, lily and rose's older sister, meanwhile, was standing haughtily, arms crossed against her chest and a scowl on her face.

diane evans was the first to notice rose and james approaching, "oh! rosie, we are so proud of you, darling!" her mother exclaimed while petunia scoffed and rolled her eyes. no one seemed to notice petunia's negative gesture while rose let go of james' hand and embraced her mother, releasing only to pull her father in for a hug while he mumbled, "so incredibly proud my little rose petal."

james, meanwhile, was awkwardly standing with his hands in his pockets, swaying back and forth on the balls of his feet. as he removed one hand to fix his crooked glasses, he heard rose speak,

"mum, dad... there's someone i'd like you to meet," james' hands immediately became sweaty as rose drew him forward by his elbow, "this is james potter, my boyfriend." rose finished with a proud smile.

james shyly smiled, not really knowing what to do. rose was the first girlfriend he had ever had, he didn't know what to do when meeting your significant other's family. so, hesitantly, he withdrew his hand from his pocket, and held it out to mrs. evans to shake. completely ignoring james' outstretched hand, diane pulled james' towering figure into a warm embrace. she pulled back and put her hand up on the boy's shoulders to observe him. looking past james, diane said,

"you picked a handsome one, rosie." a fond smile playing on her lips.

"oh, come on, mum. don't feed his ego." rose sarcastically spoke, but not before mouthing "i know, right?!"

john evans, on the other hand, wasn't so... welcoming, for lack of a better word.

he intimidatingly stepped forward, formally outstretching his hand to james as he said, "jason, is it?"

"james, actually, sir... it's... james." the messy haired boy spoke with a gulp.

"huh. so, jason," mr. evans started, "what do you plan on doing with your life?"

"well sir, i worked extremely hard to become head boy in my seventh year, you know, this year... and um, because i had top grades in all of my classes, i was accepted into the auror academy the ministry runs." james responded, slightly more confident.

"and what, exactly, is an... auror, did you say?"

"oh, sorry. i completely forgot you were a muggle." james said with a scoff at himself and a facepalm.

"excuse me?" john spoke, obviously offended by what james had called him.

"oh- no, sir i mean no disrespect it's just that- you-" james desperately looked toward rose who was having an extremely hard time keeping in her laugh.

"dad, it's nothing bad," rose said with a chuckle while james sighed in relief, "james is what wizards call 'pureblood'. it means all of his family are magic, so, naturally, he grew up far different than us. 'muggle' is the word used for non-magic people." rose explained to her father, then stepped forward and grabbed james' hand before speaking again, "go on, jameson. tell him what an auror does." the strawberry blonde spoke with an admiring look in her eye.

james looked down at rose's hopeful expression, and he chuckled before speaking, "an auror hunts down and captures dark witches and wizards. they're sort of like the military i believe that's what rose compared them to when i told her about them." james lovingly smiled down at rose.

mr. evans cleared his throat, drawing james' eyes away from rose and onto him. john stared james in the eyes for a good minute before a smile broke out across the man's features.

"welcome to the family, james."

"where are we going?" rose questioned james, an excited giggle escaping her mouth.

"we're almost there!" james responded, chuckling along with her.

they ascended one final staircase before arriving on the seventh floor. james then led rose to a blank wall- no pictures or painting were hung here, but there was no door, classroom... nothing. it was just a simple, blank wall.

"here we are!" james said, a goofy grin on his face.

"um, james, dear? i love you, you know, but... there's nothing here in case you didn't notice." rose responded with an apprehensive smile.

james' grin got wider, which just resulted in rose becoming infinitely more confused.

and then, he started to pace. eyes shut and fists balled up, he paced in front of the blank wall thrice.

rose looked at james as if he were a nutter who should be in a mad house.

then, suddenly, a grand oak door appeared on the blank wall. rose jumped back in surprise, her eyes as wide as saucers.

james, who was currently behind rose, walked toward the strawberry blonde and wrapped an arm around her shoulders before speaking,

"shall we?"
