dear james,

merry christmas!
it's an absolutely beautiful 25th of december.
it's funny how something as little as snow on christmas day can cause me to think it's the most beautiful day i've ever experienced.
i am utterly infatuated by snow, for the record.
isn't it crazy how not one snowflake is the same as the other?
every.
single.
one.
is unique.
beautifully unique.
sort of like you, james potter, huh?
you are one of a kind,
truly.

love, the girl you like to call "red".

p.s. i hope you like your gifts :)

once james finished reading the letter that was place atop a box wrapped in glimmering green and red wrapping paper with a silver bow neatly tied around the thin, square package. next to the thin parcel, an identically wrapped, but much larger, box sat. both addressed to jameson potter, from red.

james carefully picked up the thin, square package and tore the wrapping paper from it. inside was something he was not familiar with. at all. it had an image on what he was assuming was the front, a non-moving image at that, of four men with identical bowl haircuts. across the men were the words "please, please me." and below in the same font "the beatles" james had no clue what the thing was, but he appreciated it nonetheless. it gave him a reason to talk to rose, and that was a gift in itself. james then remembered the second gift and eagerly tore the pretty wrapping paper away from a box. displayed on the front was a machine. it appeared to be spinning a black disc. music notes danced across the box and around the title "record player! for all the music your ears can hear!" james was fascinated, to say the least. he really was excited about whatever this thing was that rose had purchased for him for the holidays. he just hoped she enjoyed his gift...
